Advantages: easy system, user friendly
Disadvantages: possibly not the best returns
If like me you have debts and payments that need to be paid every penny counts so I was pleased to find this little web site and immediately set about gatheirng old CDs that I no longer listen to.
The premise is simple. Register with the set and enter the barcodes for the CD, DVD or game you wish to offload. The site gives you an immeidate code and you decide if you want to sell the item.
A word of warning, popular CD's make less money. I had a couple of CDs that I still kind of like and refused the offer of 30p. However, soundtracks get anywhere between £1.50 and £3.00.
In terms of DVDs i don;t think it is the best selling vehicle. I was offer 69p for a 9 disc ALIEN box set. Needless to say it's still on the shelf.
I have only sold one game and got £3 for it.
Once you have entered all of the bar codes you complete the order and get an email confirmation. Music Magpie then send you return labels and a list of the CDs etc... you are selling. These arrive within 3-4 days and if they don't a quick email sorts that.
Another word to the wise. A package cannot be more than 5kilos. I got caught with this but the helpful post office staff let me reworkt he packets. The prepaid labels have this limt and are not valid if you go over. Use a set of kitchen scales.
Always get a receipt, just in case. A few days later you get a cheque for the agrred amount. It's cleared three days after it's deposited.
Simple.
It is possibly not the best return that you will get, however, it will be easier than ebay and less time consuming. I sold about 80 items and got about £130 all in which is quite good in my opinion.
Now all I need is a place that buys books of you in a similar manner.
Summary: easy to use, if not the most profitable

- 16/09/09 They're rip-off merchants, as stuff says. I read a review a few weeks ago and tried this with a few of my sister's DVD. They offered her 8p - 8p!!!! - for The Dark Knight. |

- 16/09/09 Nice review, but I think Music Magpie are rip-off merchants. The prices they offer you are ridiculously low and you'd be much better putting them on PlayTrade IMHO. |
