Muspy is a website which informs you of the upcoming and latest releases of your favourites bands and artists, and gives you the option of having release notifications sent to your email inbox or to be downloaded via your favourite RSS reader, or you can simply login to the website and check from there.
The website is incredibly simple. You sign up for an account (although this is not mandatory, just convenient), you search for artists you're interested in and then you add these artists to your account's watch list - that's pretty much it. The power of Muspy lies in its simplicity; there's no "padding out" of features or bloated Flash animations, and the only substantial graphic content besides the site's logo is the artwork for each of the albums/singles listed.
The website has been an invaluable tool for me since its humble beginnings several years ago. I no longer had to check the homepage of every band I listen to to see if new releases were imminent, given that Muspy's main function is to centralise all such information.
Muspy isn't perfect, however. It gets its release listings from http://musicbrainz.org/, and is therefore subject to the same errors, such as incorrect release dates for albums whose development has been contentious. That said, on the whole the information is mostly accurate, and any inaccuracies which may exist aren't really avoidable given that no one but the record companies themselves are in a position to offer exact information, and even then they are likely to change their minds.
Muspy.com is worth bookmarking, and signing up for a free account is advisable. The time and effort it will save you is phenomenal.
