Advantages: The men all seemed normal (as far as you can tell from a blurb)

Disadvantages: No-one appeared to be interested in actually meeting up

MSF is a typical dating website but the only exception is the fact that a friend either has to sign you up, or write something about you if you choose to nominate yourself. A friend of mine signed me up to MSF about a year and a half ago. It was all a bit of a giggle at first and we had a laugh writing the blurbs about me (definitely check what your friend writes about you before you let them post it!). I sat back and waited and, inevitably, I got some emails (I expect everyone does so when they initially sign up). I always had the decency to reply to everyone that emailed me, even if they weren't what I was looking for. A simple 'I don't think we'd be suited, but thanks' is all it took to be polite. I did not have such manners from the menfolk on MSF, unfortunately. I emailed maybe ten men that I liked the look of and thought I'd be compatible with and not one of them replied. NOT ONE! Not even to tell me to "**** off" which would've at least been something. It made me feel very despondent and unattractive to say the least.

Still, I plodded on and got chatting with a guy who had emailed me and seemed normal enough. After a few weeks of regular e-mails we decided to meet up. The meeting went well (in a public place!) but there was no chemistry. However, we decided to stay in touch and have been friends ever since. After receiving loads of emails from other men I had no interest in (I swear some of them don't even read your profile - they just email every woman on there) I decided to call it a day. I can't be sure, but I got the distinct impression that the men on MSF weren't really that interested in being on there. This could be explained by the fact that they were listed on there by their well-meaning friends when actually they were probably single deliberately.

The majority of the people on there seemed pretty normal but I definitely felt like I was wasting my time. I've had noticeably more success on other websites (so at least I know it's not just me). At least if someone has gone to the trouble of signing themself up you know they actually want to meet someone. The only guy I met up with was someone who signed himself up. Need I say more?!

Summary: This website is nothing special. The gimmick is just that and I don't think it works.
