Disadvantages: Takes a while to get there, No email updates
Ive been a member of www.myvoice.co.uk for about 3 months now as it was recommended to me by one of my old trusty faithful friends. Working in the world of politics I get to see a lot of survey responses and get to analyse them so I thought I would put my boot on my other foot (well I didn’t actually do that….d’oh) and see for myself what it was all about. ooOoo History ooOoo MyVoice began in Japan in 1999 and a company known as Itochu Corporation, which is one of Japan’s most respected companies, owns it. Itochu was founded in 1858 and now has operations in over 50 countries and sales of over $50bn. The MyVoice worldwide community has continued to grow and in the UK there are now over 60,000 members. ooOoo what’s it all about then ooOoo Well Myvoice is basically a research site, where people fill in surveys on topics that might interest them. Myvoice pays you anything from 1 point to 200 points for a survey. So you get to express your opinion and get paid in points for doing so. MyVoice is basically for us individuals to express their opinions to let people know what we are thinking as and when we want to. Myvoice aims to let the nation know what the people think, on certain topics from the light-hearted to the more serious all over the world and all over the UK. ooOoo should I join? ooOoo Well if you’re interested in making an impact on certain products and having your say on anything from cosmetics and clothes to politics and the armed forces then yes you should join. Myvoice claims that all viewpoints are collated and sent onto the company that set the survey, thus making their products better. You also earn points for filling in these surveys, even though ive filled in about 20 different ones, all ive ever got is 10 points per survey and although it is always 5 questions or less im still waiting for the big ones to appear. You are also entered in
to a prize draw with every survey you fill in and the prize draw means you could win anything from a £1000 to a holiday as an extra. One added extra is when you fill in the application form to join there is a promise that nothing will be passed on to any other company and your data is stored behind a firewall so it is well and truly protected. The more personal information you fill in the more points you are rewarded with, this is an incentive for you to carry on and then complete the 4 survey’s which are in the polling station. oo0oo What kind of survey’s are there oo0oo Topical polls – this survey contains minimum information and asks questions such as do you agree or disagree with the following statement – an easy survey to fill in. Express surveys – You don’t really get many of these survey’s, it does say there should be 2 different ones a month but I will believe that when I see it and the points paid for this kind of survey ranges between 20 and 100 points. Invitation surveys – ive only ever had one of these and the link didn’t work. You are given 50 points if you complete this survey and you can only complete it if it is sent to you personally. If you feel strongly about a certain subject you can email Myvoice and request a survey be put on with your subject choice. Not something I have ever thought of but something I might try now! ooOoo How do I fill in the survey oo0oo This website is one of the easiest one’s to guide yourself around and in order to take part in a survey you click on take poll which then takes you to the polling station. Here you will see at least 4 surveys for you to take part in, if your not interested in them then its quite simple – don’t fill them in. If you do want to voice your opinion then click on the survey and be prepared to fill one in. The points you are rewarded with are seen on the ri
ght hand side. Another thing to note is on the left hand margin – who is able to fill it in. Sometimes the surveys are for male participation only and vice versa. There is also a little paragraph about the survey you are about to fill in which gives you a summary of the issue. For example I have just filled a survey in about the fire strike, which here in the UK is a very hot potato where the media are concerned and this is the blurb I read before I filled it in; “Tony Blair has told the nation that the firefighters' 40% pay claim was unrealistic and would devastate the health of the economy, warning that such a pay claim would cost a 30% increase in income tax, higher mortgage and interest rates and an increase in unemployment. He also said that pay linked to modernisation is the only way that the dispute can be resolved and that the strikes were wrong and dangerous.” This blurb is therefore giving you an insight into the topic and an insight into the questions they want you to answer. The first question in this poll was “Would you be willing to have an increase in tax etc to fund any salary increase?” with the responses being “Definitely, Probably, probably not, Definitely not” all you have to do is make sure your option is ticked. Once you have completed the survey you are able to see the poll results, fear not, it does not say who has ticked what, it is all completely confidential, only you know what you have chosen as your answer. On this page (poll results) you are able to see when the poll was opened and how many people have participated in it. oo0oo What are the points and what do I do with them oo0oo Once you have started to collect your points you can find them in your account, all you do is click on your name and it takes you to your account where your points are stored. It should be noted that they will not give you your points until you have collected at
least 2000 points which is the equivalent to £20 (that’s British pounds). Once you have managed to accumulate this many points you are then able to request your voucher – sadly folks they don’t send you a nice big fat check…you are entitled vouchers to spend at the following outlets - Debenhams, Amazon.co.uk, Asda, Marks & Spencer, Boots, Dixons, Virgin Megastore, WH Smiths, Tesco stores, Sainsbury stores, House of Fraser, Choice vouchers (valid in Argos, Woolworths, HMV, Dolcis, Mothercare, BHS, JJB Sports, H. Samuel) and Leisure Vouchers (valid in Pizza Hut, TGI Friday's, Thresher, Victoria Wine Shops, Marriott Hotels, David Lloyd centres). The one good thing about this site is that you can also send your points (once you have 1000) to charity. All you need to do is send them an email and they will arrange for your points to be sent to the charity of your choice. oo0oo Extra information oo0oo if you join Myvoice and decide you don’t like it then its easy to leave, just send them an email (admin@myvoice.co.uk ) and they will delete your account and you don’t ever have to come here again. You can invite your friends to join to earn an extra 25 points (probably the best way to get to 2000). oo0oo The website oo0oo When you type in www.myvoice.co.uk you will arrive at a blue and white checked screen with MyVoice at the top. You then have 6 topic screens across the top: Home – this is where you see the what the whole site has to offer, the current survey’s are here, along with their latest news and a hyperlink to the join page. Take a poll – This directs you to the current polls and once you have signed up you are able to participate. Poll results – in this section you can see the poll results of previous survey’s Win prizes – here you can see the past prize winners and what they won. Forums &
#8211; As with many website there is a forum here for debating issues and there is also a news article page About us – This is where you can get all your technical information from such as who they are they at MyVoice, how the whole concept works, what’s in it for them and what’s in it for you, there are FAQ’s and technical questions all of which have answers. oo0oo Do I recommend it oo0oo I do recommend this site if you are patient enough and have the time to sit and fill in surveys. There is no easy way to collate all your points; you have to persevere with the surveys. They change the surveys about once a month, sometimes it is longer and sometimes it is less. But if your sat online and there is no one on MSN to chat to and your getting bored with Ciao because you have noted every single thing which has been put on there in the last month and the same with Dooyoo then why not check it out. It doesn’t take Einstein to fill in the surveys and they are generally quite interesting, even if the points scheme is a bit poor. oo0oo Still unsure oo0oo The go to www.myvoice.co.uk and check it out and see for yourself.
