Neil's Toolbox is a great site for students with great tools to assist you with your essays and assignments.
I first heard about this site from my Sociology lecturer when I started at college, its made things so much easier for me. It can be quite a stressful task getting your head around Harvard referencing and this is the perfect tool to assist you.
When writing an academic essay referencing must be precise or you can loose vital marks, referencing has to be done in a specific order with the relevant information, you simply put the information into the box's and the site will automatically bring up the reference for you all you then need to do is copy and paste it into word.
It can reference websites, books, chapters of books, e-mails and journals. Not only does this site help with Harvard referencing it also has a plagiarism tester. You simply cut and paste your sentence or paragraph into the box and it will then tell you if your text is original.
This may sound a bit silly because you would think that you would know if you had copied or not but sometimes you can just write something that has already been written, this can get you into a lot of trouble, so its always worth checking out your work.
There is also a MLA reference generator, which works in a similar way to the Harvard reference generator, but it creates MLA references instead.
The lazy researcher tool basically gives you links based upon your topics saving you a lot of time and hassle.
There is also 2 types of calculators, the writing clarity and savings interest calculators. These tools basically give you advice and guidance.
It's a very useful website that makes life that little bit easier for us students, I don't know what I would of done without it. It really does help, as I heard about it early into my course I was receiving higher marks than a lot of my peers due to the fact I knew how to reference which is one of the criteria's for a level 3 (which you need to aim for).
Overall I couldn't live without it and as I am going to uni in September im sure I will be using it a lot more. A very good site that every student should know about.
