Advantages: Good for boredom beating

Disadvantages: aimed more for kids

Neopets.com was recommended to be by a friend one night when I was bored and fancied doing some little games that would keep me entertained for a while. My friend plays this a lot and told me it can become addictive, it sounded childish but fun so I decided to give it a go.


Neopets is basically a virtual pet's site that is set around an island called neopia. You need to set up an account before you play but this is very easy to do. When setting up you have to add a username for yourself and a password which will enable to you play your game. The site will ask you to choose a pet from the list (please note there are some normal pets there but they are called by different names). You must choose the colour of your pet and pick a name for him or her.


You can choose up to 4 different pets per time and your mission is to look after the pet by feeding it, buying it toys and clothes with virtual money. You can make money by playing a various amount of games depending on which island in neopia you wish to visit. You can play pyramids, cards, action games, puzzles and lots more. The better you do in the games the more points you will win that will enable you to buy better things.


As the time goes on you will get to know your pet and realise what they like to eat and what they hate. You can enter your pet in competitions too. To be honest I feel like neopets is a more advanced version of the tamogotchi. For kids this site is great, it is fun and there are tones of games to play aswell as different things to do to look after your pet.


The site is fun for adults too however I don't really bother with the pet much I tend to just have fun playing on all the mini games. It doesn't matter if you don't feed your pet anyways as it will never die.


Overall this is a good site to pass a bit boredom time and some games do get a bit addictive especially pyramids and spelling bee. I think it is hard to describe this site as when my friend told me about it I thought it sounded more for kids and a load of rubbish at first but it is good as you will discover by trying it for yourselves.

Summary: worth a try as can be addictive
