 notam.uio.no/~hcholm/altlang/stat.html Internet Site

notam.uio.no/~hcholm/altlang/stat.html

Newest Review: ... like mildly funny overseas sweary stuff, visit if you do. It's your call. Technically, of course, the site sucks. Content-wise, it does too, but there's enough material there to last you the best part of an hour or two. And there's certainly no point in me spell-checking this opinion. Whatever. Jamai. That's be Tamil for 'Enjoy', by the way. • http://www.notam.uio.no/~hcholm/altlang/ stat.html ... more

Um, I'm not really sure about this one, simply because it's probably going to verge on being highly offensive (even if I use quotes), and people might not like it, y'see? So there. That's your warning. Explicit content here. Maybe. There's nothing funnier than the funniest thing in the world. I'm not sure what it is, but it's probably not swearing. It's all been done, and we're no longer offended. Well, I'm speaking for myself, but yeah. Swearing sucks. Conformity sucks. Put the two together and you've got this; The Alternative Dictionary. It could be, in theory anyway, pretty valuable for the tourist spoiling for a ...  Read the complete review

WOW! What I could have done with this as a schoolboy! Sadly, as an adult its of less interest but still fascinating nonetheless. Firstly, if you are easily offended then definitely give this site and probably the rest of this review a miss. Ok, so I'll have to 'suck-up' a little and '*-out' some of the words and phrases, but I know how touchy some of you people can be. LEAVE NOW IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED!!! Ok, thats that over with then. Actually, I've decided I'm not going to quote anything from the dictionary as it'll probably get this review pulled and anyway, I'm sure you can use your imagination. Premium Review notam.uio.no/~hcholm/altlang/stat.html: Bad Language (140 words)

This website contains bad language, if easily offended give it a miss! You can find a host of obscenities and swearwords in a number of different languages on this site. It ranges from Afrikaans and Latvian to Maori. There are examples of words, their correct useage, phrases, spellimgs and pronounciation. The entry page to the site presents you with a list of languages to choose from. The number of entries for each language is listed in brackets. Some have dozens of entries and other just a couple. What makes this site funy instead of just plain smutty is the comments on useage. It often advises when to use a certain phrase and when you must ...  Read the complete review

WARNING: This opinion contains explicit language. This website is a comprehensive source of swearwords and obscenities across numerous languages, from English to Esperanto. It includes confirmed spellings, phonetic pronunciations, definitions, examples of usage, and occasionally brief histories. Initially you are faced with a long list of languages, most, but not all (they've yet to scour the Bengali or Mongolian dictionaries for example), are links to a list of swearwords and obscenities in that tongue. Some only have one or two examples (the only Gujurati obscenity on view is "Chootio" meaning "dickhead, jerk"); others have ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review notam.uio.no/~hcholm/altlang/stat.html: I wish I'd found this site earlier... (127 words)

One of the pleasures of buying a foreign language dictionary is looking up the swear words! This site takes the hard work out of this, and also gives far more languages than you'd want to buy dictionaries. I wish I had seen it before my trip to Egypt, for many of the Arabic words and phrases would no doubt have been most useful in handling the constant hassle to buy worthless articles from street traders. It would have been invaluable in dealing with taxi drivers, camel owners - in fact, anyone giving stress - except of course, the police! I also work with some French people, and so I can now fluently insult them in their own language. A ...  Read the complete review
