Then on the right there are the usual search options as well as the opportunity to sign up to the newsletter. It's good to see that the website isn't cluttered with adverts to try and raise funding as well leaving space for some new and relevant offers. It acts as a great insight to find out more about the work NUS are doing to help out students and is vital if you want to keep up to date with a current story such as their recent fight against the cap being lifted from tuition fees. As well as this the website itself is th... more |

NUS.org.uk is the official website for NUS (National Union for Students) providing up to date information about news and new offers relating to the union. The website itself is very clear and set out effectively, the main central column is filled with the latest news stories relating to NUS as well as some information on their latest events and work. Having just started a Psychology degree with the Open University this year, I'm technically now a student. But as I'm not 18, I'm not attending uni lectures or living in student digs, and I rarely socialise, I feel little like a student. To get into the mood of being a money-saving studious woman, I decided to get myself a student card. NUS is the one that first sprung to mind, so I checked out their website... ... NUS online, the National Union of Students website. I'll state my opinion on the site now - I think it is very poor in all honesty. But, there are obviously some good points about the site, and I must stress to get anything out of it, you must register. Registation is quite a lengthy process, requiring personal details, university and course details, and your NUS card number. Not ... Read the complete review

Why oh why do we bother with that damn card. I have no money, like most students, and this causes problems, as my money is spent on the boring aspects of life, and not the cause and solution to all of lifes problems; alcohol. So we get our lovely red cards, supposedly used to get discounts on things. This sounds quite useful at first, but as soon as you get any where near the truth of the matter, you may realise the true uselessness of it. Firstly, the card can be used for nothing of any great interested to students. At WH Smith we may be able to get a 10% discount on everyones favourite aspect of life, paper, but as soon as we try and use the card to by say a CD at the ... Read the complete review

The National Union of Students protects, gives advice and information to students in the UK. They have a good range of resources to help them complete their missions. The NUS web-site is an extension of the NUS “real-world” service, aiming to provide articles on student life for students to read, survival guides, entertainment listings for local events, and special offers and discounts at NUS partnerships. The NUS site seems to be divided into two sections. The “Personal” section, for personal information, web mail etc, and the “national” section, giving information, advice and discounts. The Personal section ... Read the complete review
