Advantages: Some Cheap hotels
Disadvantages: A weak site
Octopus Travel are an online travel agency, they are one of the preferred agents for Easyjet and you can easily access their site when booking a flight. The website allows users to book hotels around the world at wildly discounted rates.
The site itself is fairly disappointing, from the front page you cannot tell too much of the hotels and locations available, you are given a calendar to choose the dates you want to travel and are asked to free type the location you want to visit. This is not my preferred way to book hotels as I like to know what is available and think this really limits the appeal immediately.
Once you have chosen the location you can then decide how you want to review them, you can do this by the rating, price or distance from the city centre. The site is slow and unresponsive and the prices aren't particularly cheaper than any other online travel agent.
The site is fairly basic in design and content, the checkout system appears fairly simple and the descriptions of hotels are too brief for my liking, I prefer seeing more pictures and having a much better idea of what I'm buying.
I have tried to use this site once to book a hotel in Brussels but had the werewithal to check other sites prior to making payment and realised I could get it cheaper elsewhere. I find the site a bit of a disappointment and the offers are only really beneficial if your looking for a cheap cheerless motel, which most of us aren't.
I have since moved on to other sites but never forgot the weaknesses of this site.
Summary: A travel agent that is cheap and cheerless

- 15/06/09 I was trying to decide on VU and U but as you didn't actually book a holiday, I can't think what else you could have included. Sounds like one to avoid though - although poor websites are my number 1 annoyance. I would rather pay more and get it booked in a minute! |
