Advantages: Quick, easy surveys
Disadvantages: Takes a long time to reach pay out thresholds
Onepoll is a survery website that pays its members for completing surveys about a variety of subjects. Anyone can join providing they are willing to provide a few private details such as name, address, phone number, marital status etc. The payout threshold is £40 which is payable by cheque( I believe) or straight into your bank account.
The website advertises surveys ranging in payment from 5p to £1 but I've never come across anything higher than 10p a survey. Though the payment is small the surveys are generally short and quite amusing. However, it takes a long time to reach the payout threshold as I've been using the website for about 4 months and am still only at £8.60. There are also prize draw surveys where the prize is typically a £25 Amazon voucher. I occasionally fill these in when there are no payment surveys but have never won anything.
Whereas many survey sites send you an email when a new survey suited to you is available with onepoll it's up to you to sign in every day to find out if there are any new surveys suitable for you. There are generally 4 or 5 new payment surveys available everyday but you might not be eligible for all of them. For example, a survey might ask for only people aged 18-35, just women or people with children. I find that women with young children will have many more surveys available than anyone else. However, be warned, if you lie and choose to fill in every survey regardless they will find out eventually and probably cancel your payment, "So you are a man and a woman who works yet is unemployed?" Therefore I'd say it's a good idea to be honest because cheats really never do prosper.
As I have not yet redeemed my cash I can't comment on the speed it takes cheques to arrive but the method of payment straight into your bank account would obviously be much quicker.
The site itself is very simple to navigate. After you have signed in your home page displays your current cash total as well the surveys you have completed. Then a quick click on the "surveys" link takes you to a list of current surveys showing the requirements, the reward and the closing date.
The advantages of this particular survey site are;
You will never be signed out of a survey halfway through.
There is a survey available everyday (except weekends strangely enough.)
The payment is cash rather than vouchers.
Surveys are quick and simple.
A £2.50 bonus is received when you first sign up.
On the other hand, the disadvantages are;
Payment threshold is quite high and I suspect it will take almost a year for me to reach it.
More surveys are aimed at mothers than any other group of people (as I'm not a mum this counts as a disadvantage for me.)
In conclusion, Onepoll is one of the better survey sites around and the fact that I see the results of surveys I have completed in the news means I trust the site completely. It won't make you rich quickly but for a bit of extra cash for very little effort I think it's worth signing up.
Summary: A pretty decent survey site.

- 05/10/09 I'd prefer to see a review of this type of site written by a member who had already reached payout and received the funds to specify how easy (or difficult) the cashout process it :) |
