Advantages: Short surveys, sometimes fairly enjoyable
Disadvantages: Worked out it will take about a year to reach the £40 payment threshold
OnePoll for me is a site which I was first attracted to because of the short surveys, but having persisted for a few months now and still being about a million surveys away from my payment threshold, I have decided that I don't like them after all and we may have to go our separate ways :-(
***** Summary of general experience with survey sites *****
I have gone through a bit of a phase recently of trying out lots of different money-making ways as me and my boyfriend are saving for a deposit on a house and it's a case of every penny counts at the moment. One thing I've tested out is joining various survey websites, but general opinion of these is very poor. In summary, you either don't qualify for the survey sent to you often after having answered a load of questions already, or you spend about 20 minutes answering a survey for about 30p, or the system crashes, or there aren't enough surveys, or the threshold for cashing in your money is too high to ever reach. In summary, there seem to be much better ways for me to make money. The only survey company who seem half-decent to me are LightSpeed, as they pay on average around 80p to £1.10 per survey and you can get paid by PayPal even after just hitting £1.
***** OnePoll *****
OnePoll claims to be the fastest-growing on-line market research company. One you register, you can log in whenever you want and after clicking into 'My Account', you can choose the 'Surveys' option where there are normally some short surveys waiting for you. I would say that on average there are about 1 or 2 a day. These surveys normally range from literally one question, up to about 20 quick questions at most. I must admit they can be more enjoyable to answer than some survey sites, as they will be about your general views in life such as what really irritates you on a daily basis, what stresses you out, who your favourite celebrities are, etc etc.
One thing I do like about OnePoll is that it's a case of 'what you see is what you get', so the surveys you see in the survey section will normally all be accessible to you, unless they say 'Women Only' or 'Mums Only' which is sometimes the case. But unlike many other survey companies, you can see straight away which ones you can answer and you don't have to answer a load of questions first only to be qualified out.
The main problem with OnePoll is that the payments are soooooooo low. Per survey it will tell you whether the reward is an entry into a draw to win a £25 Amazon voucher or if it's a cash reward. If it's a cash reward, it's normally only 5p or 10p per survey. The threshold for payment is £40 when you get paid by Direct Debit into your bank account. Originally I thought I might reach this quite quickly with loads of quick surveys, but having spent the first couple of months checking it most days, and the last month going on it about once a week or so, I am still only at £9.20, bearing in mind that I got £2.50 for signing up! A big part of me wants to carry on and reach the threshold now I've answered all these surveys, but then the other part of me thinks 'hang on, I've spent about 3 months doing this and I'm not even 1/4 of the way, so I need to do this every week for about a year to reach £40 - this is terrible and it's time to walk away, goodbye OnePoll, you're dumped!'.
Summary: I just don't think survey sites are worth it

- 03/11/09 It's an appalling site - there never seem to be any surveys on there anymore...only ones which you can win amazon vouchers... |

- 30/10/09 They're slow earners but I don't mind the survey sites I've tried (except Valued Opinions but don't get me started on that). I don't mind One Poll coz it's just a few minutes a day, although it'll be ages before I can cash out! |

- 29/10/09 I like OnePoll - the surveys are quick and you know before you click on it whether you can take it or not. Sure the payment threshold is high, but it's easy money... even if it does take a while to reach the £40 |
