Advantages: Can be done at home/work
Disadvantages: Many deals are sold, not enough info available
I have just finished a 3 hour session helping my sister to booka holiday supposedly online! I have visited about 15 site including cheapflights.com, lastminute.com, lateescapes.com etc etc. I have to say that not one of them was what I would call easy to use. First of all there are the forms to fill in all different none good. The problem is because you are talking to computer there is no flexibilty or questions that can be asked. The worst thing that I found was on almost all of them it is not easy to book online as they don't answer all your questions. So inevitably you end up on the phone asking all your questions only to find that the cheap flight you saw on the net has, surprize surprize, been sold. They will then proceed to offer you a variety of other options all at much bigger price than the original. I also found that a lot of flights that I looked into could not even be booked online because the companies didn't even have sites only phone numbers. We did eventually get a deal at £179 per person by ringing the online agents number. This £179 was the best deal we were told we could get even though it was at least £50 more expensive than most of the online offers. Yes it is possible to get a flight on the internet but you will end up on the phone.

- 23/07/01 I have bought twice from lateescapes.com and have been delighted with the price: £600 for 3 people to Florida including hotel, flights and hire car, is less than one person normally and £410 for 2 people to go skiing including half board and flights is a very good deal.
I have also used airtickets.co.uk which has good prices. The only site I have had problems with is bargainholidays.com. I rang about a holiday to Menorca which is billed as being available at a certain poll time to be told that the flight had already left. Not much use! and of course the agent tried to sell me something for three times the price. |

- 23/05/01 I've never had any problems getting online deal, I tend to get my flights direct from the virginexpress site or the ryanair site. To get the best deals you need to book a couple of weeks in advance and to search different times and dates around when you want to go. |
