Advantages: free 'zine publishing offer

Disadvantages: workshops are now closed for applications

Opening line is a well designed and graphically pleasing site. When it comes to resources there is an emphasise on the North of England but there is also plenty for the rest of the country. The workshops are now closed for admissions but there are still a lot of relevant things for aspiring writers to find and make use of. The articles can be accessed in the form of downloads which could be read off line, helpful for saving on-line bills depending on what type of connection the user has. The section for magazines lists several magazines for writers and those interested in literature, it also clearly marks the publications looking for contributors. Also, for those with aspirations to their own 'zine opening line offers:-
‘Through The Opening Line, your magazine can have its own complete, multi-page feature on the Internet.
Your web-site will be designed and hosted for you - no expertise or payment is necessary - and you'll be able to maintain your pages every month by supplying us with updated information. Additionally, your magazine will be permanently listed in our extensive, on-line directory of the region's literary publications.’
The link for route who are looking for hard-hitting pieces of contemporary fiction for their new anthology due to be published in 2001. wasn’t working when I tried it. A little disappointing, but all in all I expect to be going back to this site to see how it develops and to keep tabs on what is going on in the art literature field.

Good op, could do with a little attention to the spacing, spelling and punctuation side. Definitely won't stop reading your stuff.

Even though this one is a little short for my tastes, it was still damned useful. My compliments to the chef. Keep it up and I'll keep reading them.

Nicely, Bigmama.
