Advantages: great sites
Disadvantages: none
Like another user, I have already done my top ten websites review, but then found this category. Since my first review, I've found a few other great sites so I thought I could take this opportunity to tell you all about them here!
1) www.Photofunia.com
This is a great site that allows you to upload pics and then puts them into a really coolpicture. For example, upload your face and it'll appear on a busy street billboard. You can then save these pics and use them as your status pics for sites like Facebook - it's all free and it's all good! It's a bit too ego-centric to print them out, but they are a bit of fun for social site profile pics (I may just put one on Dooyoo).
2) www.tvdash.com
This is an excellent site that links to streams of movies (albeit illegally). Streaming is about seeing immediate videos, not needing to download at all. Currently you can go to this site and immediately watch a DVD quality copy of 'The Reader'. Although you don't have to download, you sometimes have to wait a bit for the video to load up.
3) www.john-b.com
John B is a DJ and producer who is at the cutting edge of techno tinged drum n bass. As a fan of all things dance music, his tune selection is wide reaching and risky, as he tinges techno with Drum N bass like no-one else. Beware, though, the lyrics of his tracks are often explicit and sexual. You can use this site to download free podcasts which are basically one hour long mix tapes for your listening pleasure.
4) www.Approvedfood.co.uk
It's a simple thought: what happens to food when it has gone past it's sell-by date? When I used to work at the CO-OP they had to bin it to be able to claim it back as a tax deductable loss, but there are other options too, and that's where approvedfood.co.uk come in.
The basic principle is they are an online cash and carry that specialize in (although not exclusively) food and drink products that are near to, or just passed, their sell-by date. Selling at a huge discount (often less than 10% of the RRP) they sell these products online to people like me who'll do anything for a bargain.
It's a personal choice, but the truth is that sell-by-dates on most products are not a realistic indication of when something goes off, and this is a real area money savers can get involved in.
The products are fairly limited - there are normally around 100 things to choose from. To give you an idea of price, I bought 62 350ml bottles of coke (rrp £1) for 8p each.
There is currently a 12 day backlog, due to the site's popularity, but it's worth the wait.
The important thing to remember is these are normal guys running this place, so they do their best, they answer all queries, and they are honest.
The shipping is £5.25 for up to 28kg and £10.50 for up to 60kg.
It's worth checking the site every day as they get new lines in all the time.
Payment has to be made through googlecheckout, which is a kind of account that manages normal card payments. I was a tad dubious but I have to say it was fine.
Products arrived carefully packed which was great.
I am very pleased to say that you get an email letting you know it has arrived, and telling you which neighbour they delivered to (if you're out) which is just fantastic.
Over all, it's not the most easy to navigate site, there are delays and you may get a refund for out of stock items, but despite all that you can grab an absolute bargain and feel like you're cheating the system a bit: priceless.
IN CONCLUSION:
4 more great sites that I just love to bits!
Summary: check them out!

- 14/02/09 Im 100% against downloading free movies. The reason is because they are so expensive to make and they wont get tmade if you keep nicking them.lol. No problem with pinching music downloads as that has the oppositte effect, forceing record companies to make decent music and bands. |

- 14/02/09 Airlan - the site itself is legal, in that it doesn't hold anything itself, just points to it. I think it's a grey area, but by being honest about its status people can make their own informed choice about it |

- 14/02/09 Like the sound of the last one, though I am not sure you should be 'advertising' an illegal site on here. |
