PageResource.com is a great place for people who wish to learn how to create and manage their own website. The basic idea behind the site is that it provides tutorials and information about website development. They must make their money from the banners that are slapped around the website (in a tasteful manner ut has to be said) as the tutorials and information is free to the users.

** What Tutorials **
The tutorials that are provided on this website are to do with the development of website, pages etc… these articles are provided by various different people, which makes it quite good, if you don’t like the style of one person, start another tutorial. The following is covered:

HTML
JavaScript
DHTML/Style Sheets
CGI/Perl

Along with information and tutorials on the above, which come in several different skill levels from beginner to advanced, there is access to free graphics and backgrounds for your pages with links to places when you can have a tutorial on how to create these graphics. There is also a section with Web Design Articles, this section covers the various aspects of web design, like the problems of download times, site maintenace to e-mail problems. Along with this there is a lot of information for potential webmasters about how to manage and maintain the service.

** Help **
Help is easy to get on this website as there is a forum on which you can post any queries that you may have with the work that you are doing. This is a valuable resource as you can post your own queries and get answers from other users of the website, you can also browse through the forums to view the problems that other people have been having. This may even answer your question as someone else may have been having the same problem.

Also if you are a kind hearted soul with the knowledge to help someone who is stuck you can even post a reply to the questions posted by other people.

ience **
When I had to start to learn how to write CGI programs the first thing that I did was to search for some online tutorials. PageResource.com was the first place that I came across and I hace found it very useful. The tutorial that I read gave me the grounding needed to start to write CGI programs using Perl. It didn’t teach me everything, but it started my on my way and game me the confidence to work through the books that I had purchased on the subject.

** Site Navigation & Speed **
The website is very easy to use and all the information is very easy to access. The main topics, i.e. the different technologies are displayed on the main page, when you click on one of these you go to the next level. You can then choose at what level in the subject you want to read, i.e. beginner etc… All the you have access to the level that you just came from, much like a graphical ftp interface.

This is a very fast site and every article loads up very quickly. Okay I am spoilt having used this from work, but I am sure it would be quick enough to be useful from home on the end of a modem. The only thing that I don’t like, but there is no getting away from it, is the pop up adverts that load. But then this site would not exist without the money, so it is easy to put up with.

** My Thoughts **
PageResource.com is a very good place for the beginner to start learning how to create interesting websites. It is also quite useful for the more advanced user, but the main focus is on the beginner. This is well worth a vsit, try it out.
