Advantages: Quick, easy

Disadvantages: Loop holes, needs more shops, poor customer service

PayPal is an easy and efficient method of sending and receiving money. It's enabled many small and upcoming businesses to have online transactions as well as make eBay safer for both buyers and sellers alike.

Signing up is fairly quick but having a fully functional account takes a little time. You have to verify your bank account to be able to withdraw money which involves PayPal depositing two small amounts of money into your account within 3 to 5 working days and is completed when you type them in on the site.

A major complaint I have with PayPal is their terrible customer service. I've emailed them numerous times about eBay issues and they simply didn't reply which wasn't very helpful. You've also got be very careful as a seller on eBay as the very rules that PayPal have in places to stop unfair transactions can lead to you getting scammed. (Always use recorded delivery and track it online).

The fees aren't too bad and the service is useful. I do wish that it was quicker to withdraw money however. It normally takes about a week which is a little excessive. An alternative could be if PayPal tried to be associated with more than just eBay, such as Amazon and other online shops like Play and HMV.

Summary: I would rather get a cheque
