Welcome to my personal review on PayPal UK.

I started using PayPal at the age of 15.
Since then I have found other payment engines on the internet that offer better services and features.

For those of you who don?t know who PayPal are, they are the biggest online payment handler within the world. They have just over 45 Million members worldwide.

*****REGISTERING*****

The registration process is really easy. All you have to do is click on the Sign-Up link at the top of the page and enter you personal details. Registering with PayPal is quick and easy. Just enter the e-mail address for which you would like to receive payment to and you?re away. Although they will ask you to confirm your account through your e-mail address.
PayPal do make you aware of the charges before you complete your registration.

*****THE MAINFRAME OF YOUR ACCOUNT*****

The user mainframe is easy to use and quick (Depending on your internet connection). The website is encrypted with a 1024 bit user login script which ensures the safety of the connection of the website. The security of the website is issued by Verisign which are the biggest company in internet security.

-----MY ACCOUNT-----

Account Overview:
This tab allows you to see your account balance and see the recent transactions that are in your account before you file them. This is brilliant as this is the main screen you will enter as soon as you enter your username and password.
This is easier to use as you don?t have to look for it.

Add Funds:
If you wish to transfer funds from your main UK bank account you may. Although the service is free, it does take 7-9 days to initialize the payment. This is great if you have all the time on your hands. Say for example you have seen this laptop on eBay for £200.00. You only have £56.00 in PayPal funds and the auction closes in 10 day
s time you can easily transfer the funds from your account without incurring any charges.

Withdraw Funds:
You may at any time withdraw the funds from you PayPal account to your main bank account. The only problem with this again is the time. You are expected to wait 5-7 days for the transfer to complete. They also levy a charge for transactions under £49.99 the charge is £0.25. More ways for the company to make money.

History:
You history is where you can look back on all of the old transactions you have received. You can even order FREE monthly statements for easier viewing. These usually occur on the 15th of every month. When you click on the "FILE ALL" tab on the overview page this is where the transactions go. This is great if you have more than 200 transactions per month as they are easier to find.

Profile:
This tab is split into sections. You have you Account information tab which give you the option to change things such as your e-mail and postal address, etc. The second section is the financial information you have registered with PayPal, you can change or add a credit card, add or delete a credit card, Etc.

------SEND MONEY-----

You can send money to anyone with a valid e-mail address within the world. If they are not a member they will be invited on your behalf to join. This method could earn you £75.00 (Terms and Conditions apply)
The sending of money is easy. Just follow these simple steps:
Enter the recipient's email address;
Enter the amount of money to be sent;
Enter the currency you wish to send it in;
Enter the reason for payment;
You can add a Note or Subject but this is optional. Just click on SEND and there you are. You have sent e-mail money to someone.

-----REQUEST MONEY-----

Requesting money is easy just follow these simple steps:
Enter the payees email address;
Enter the amount of money to be received;
Enter the currenc
y you wish to receive it in;
Enter the reason for payment;
You can add a Note or Subject but this is optional. Just click on SEND and there you are. You have requested e-mail money from someone.

-----MERCHANT TOOLS-----

If you wish to use this on your personal or business website you can do. Here are the tools to help you on your way:

Buy Now Buttons --- These are for singular items to be purchased through your website. It saves time setting up a shopping basket.

PayPal Shopping Basket --- This is ideal if you have more then 10 items for sale on your website at any time. This is easy to use and very little HTML knowledge is required. Altogether it?s FREE again.

Subscriptions and Recurring Payments --- I use this a lot for people who get their website hosting from me. It?s the safest way that the subscriber is going to pay on time. Say if you had website hosting at only £39.99 per month. You would have to setup a recurring payment button. This saves time running around after your customers.

Donations --- If you are a charity or a non-profit making organization this would benefit you. They don?t charge for receiving donations. A big recommendation is to keep the donation amount small as this amount cannot be changed by the donor.

Payment Request Wizard for Outlook --- This is great if you have a small dial up connection at 56.6kbps. All you would have to do is connect to the internet and click on the Outlook tab on your desktop. This sends an e-mail with a pre-filled template to the user you are requesting the money from. This only work with Office Outlook (Not Outlook Express)

-----AUCTION TOOLS-----

Automatic Logos --- These are the Logos that are posted by PayPal. This saves time when you have better things to do other than insert those horrible logos into E-bay listings. The setup of this is easy. You just have to enter your eBay user id and password and PayPal
will insert them FREE OF CHARGE for you.

Manual Logos --- These are a pain in the bum. You have to insert them yourself. This option is not recommended if you fancy seeing yourself within the next 20 minutes throw your computer half way across the room. My recommendation is to go for the Automatic Logo Insertion. It?s free and easy.

Winning Buyer Notification --- This is a notification from PayPal to the buyer announcing that they are the winner of the item. This is sent in the form of an e-mail and is easy to use.

-----PayPal Buyer Protection-----

This is for the protection and can only be used by EBay users. If your feedback score is more then 98% then your buyers will be eligible for £250.00 protection in the event that they do not receive goods of services. This is easy to use. When you file a Case against someone they are notified and if they don?t respond within 7 days of that e-mail they will proceed to step 2. Step 2 is when they freeze the account. They do this so that just in case the dispute cannot get sorted out, PayPal have access to withdraw the funds and give them to the Buyer of the original item.

-----SECURITY-----
Login:
The security of the website is brilliant. It?s a shame little old me cannot afford it as it cost just £400.00 for a temporary license from Verisign. When you enter the address at the top of your browser and click on the go button you will see that the address has changed from Http://www.paypal.co.uk to Https://www.paypal.co.uk. The web uses this to distinguish fake payment websites on the web.
When you login no one but you can see that screen.
Who you really are:
PayPal always ask for more ways to identify you before you can be approved. They usually ask you to complete a process called the expanded use program. This is where they will take £1.10 from your credit or debit card and ask you to enter the 4 digits on your credit or debit card statement. Once thi
s is entered and you have received a payment from someone other than PayPal you will get the £1.10 back. Only thing is that they will ask to verify your details once every 6 months.

-----WEBSITE MAINTENANCE-----
The website is always having maintenance on it. They do this due to keep the customers happy. The only maintenance I hate is when they up the charge for receiving payment. I hate that.

-----MY THOUGHTS ABOUT PAYPAL-----

My thoughts on PayPal are the clear, they offer the best internet payment system on the internet today, but the thing I don?t like about PayPal is the nerve of their charges. 3.4% + 20p. That?s robbery, I would rather take a cheque thanks at least it will clear quicker than PayPal funds.
PayPal I would recommend but only if you are a buyer that way you will not incur any fees or restrictions on your account.

Thanks for reading my review.

I didn't really understand PayPal, apart from the fact I knew their charges were crazy, but I have a better understanding now. Great review

Excellent review!
I've used payapl on quite a few occasions, mainly paying for ebay purchases. It's always been great but I agree, the charges are too high.
