I started using paypal for online auctions about 3 weeks ago and I must say it has been really helpful, its such an easy way to make payments and you can make a payment to anyone with an e-mail address.
It is free to sign up which is great. Paypal do not charge you to send payments to people and when people send payments to your paypal account the charge to have a cheque issued is really small, if its a bigger payment there is no charge!
I find it really helpful because I dont have to worry about people knowing my bank details and if you use it for online auctions like i do it is so much quicker than sending a cheque to someone and waiting for it to clear, the money is just transfered through paypal directly from your bank account.
I really reccomend that people get a paypal account it has been brilliant for me!

HOW IT WORKS


Well, its pretty simple really, you register your card details with paypal and when you want to make a payment to somebody, you go onto the site, click on send payment, if you have more than one card registered you will have to choose which card you wish to use for payment, you will have to enter a password to confirm the payment, and you wiill need to give paypal the e-mail address of the person to which you need to send money. You can only send money to people who have a paypal account so it cant be used for everything. You will recieve an e-mail reciept confirming you have paid the person and paypal also keep a record of all your transactions, the money is taken directly from your registered card and paid to paypal, paypal then pay the person you are sending the money to on your behalf.
When someone sends you money you will recieve an e-amil saying someone has paid money to you and would you like to accept it. The money is then stored in your paypal accoun ( it does not go into your bank account!) You can request a cheque from paypal so you can put the money into your account. There are sometimes charges
as you can see from the origional bit I wrote.
If you send someone money and for some reason they need to refund you, you will recieve an e-amil saying you have recieved a refund offer and do you wish to accept it, if you accept the refund it will not go into your paypal accont, it will go straight back into the account from which the money was origionally withdrawn.

I would reccomend a paypal account to anyone who buys online.
