peoplespoems.co.ukNewest Review: ... I find that I write poetry very easily if I have come through a particular trial. Here is one I wrote 15 years ago: Happiness. Time ...your movement flowing to the reaches of Infinity . How I would like to capture your happy moments, make them stay with me. But they ever evade my grasp ,like a baby trys, to catch a bubble of soap. maybe the secret is not trying ,pursueing ,this ... more |

After reading Auldmacs opinion , about this site:Peoplespoems.co.uk ,I had to look up this site. As an aspireing writer ,especially of poems ,I would like to get published ,and also read other peoples poems . This site also advertises books about poetry ,and there is a forum ,and competition section. Also poem of the day ,the one up today is about a homeless person ,and very moving. Writing poetry, like all meaningful hobbies, is very satisfying ,because you are enabled to express your deepest feelings and thoughts ,with hopefully others that will appreciate them.It is also a means of communication. I find that I write poetry very ... Read the complete review

The title invoked an image of sad saps who strive to claim that they are “published poets” by sending some pile of a-rhythmic twaddle to their local newspaper. I was strangely drawn to it, thinking that I would be able to have a chuckle at some maudlin specimens of desperately rhymed verse. Sadly, however, there is only actually one poem to view, and that was written by the bloke who owns the site. People’s Poems is a hopeless attempt to make money by a book company which can’t even spell its own name properly. As the site loaded, the words “Halpin Book’s” appeared at the top. Halpin Book’s what, I wonder? Who is ... Read the complete review

This read- is for,- and about, people, and it's a sort of poetry in its' own unique way. It is a piece of text I found many years ago, and have had good reason, on my own journey through life, to refer to it and follow the wisdom therein, on many, many, occasions. There has never been any copyright on it. Some say it was authored by Max Ehrman 1927, others maintain that it was discovered on a tombstone in Baltimore, but no-one is really sure. Regardless, I'd like to share it with you. ---------------- Desiderata --------------- Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be ... Read the complete review

Peoplespoems sounds and looks as though its doing its bit to encourage amateur poets. The feeling you get from this site is that Halpin Books exists purely to get struggling poets into print. This is not the case. Look carefully and you will see that they are a commercial outfit and as such they are looking to make a profit from writers (nothing wrong with this!)They are currently running a competition and it costs £4 per poem to enter. The winner gets £300 and the runners up ( number not specified) get their poems printed in a book. In effect they are each paying £4 to get their work printed if they are among the chosen ones. It takes just 75 entries ... Read the complete review

I found this site about two weeks ago from a leaflet that was in my local library. I am interested in poetry, mostly reading it than writing it. I had a look to see what they offer poets and writers, and I was quite excited by what they offered. The site produces books from people’s poetry and short stories. Poetry competitions £4 per poem entered with up to £300 on offer, and money for 2nd and 3rd (not much but enough so I’ve entered tree poems), books for sale, poems and stories are available to the browser. This site is not the best designed but it does offer the chance for amateur poets to have their poem or story published. Any poets and writers ... Read the complete review
