For anyone who wants free long distance calling, this is excellent software which is free. Phonefree.com works like this: you download some software which is very easy and then you can talk to anyone with a PC free. So, it’s PC to PC, this is excellent if you have friends, families outside of the UK.

I have been using this software for a couple of months, the quality was very good, and it was so easy. You put your friends ID in, and then when they come online, you can ring them. You can even have ‘Line 2’ were you ring two people are do conference calls, and you can talk to a group of people.

However, the drawback is that a little bar at the bottom of your screen appears, and if you exit that you will be offline. I do exit it because it takes so much of the screen up, so I arrange to meet my friends.

But, recently the sound quality has been awful. There has been an increase in numbers and therefore the quality isn’t that good. But, it’s a good software to have. You can send voicemails to your friends, and it’s really good because you can play it back to yourself, before you send it off.
If one of you has a web cam, you can see that person. It’s also very good for video mail.

It’s an excellent free way of keeping in touch with friends and family who you do not see. The other rather weird thing is that when you are online, because your ID is in the white pages, people can ring you up. And send you voice messages, it’s been a laugh and thank-fully I have had no problem.

This software is excellent for PC to PC calls, unlimited and 24 hours a day. The sound quality is a bit down but they promise to improving the service. It’s free and worth trying.
