Advantages: Super software, reasonable downloads, good after sales service.
Disadvantages: May not appeal to all.
About three years ago, I was pretty new to the Internet, and I knew what I wanted to do on my computer, but had no idea how to do it. Typing a search in the form of a question in Google that said something pretty simple like 'How do I copy photos onto a DVD ?', the search results took me to this website, and I hadn't realised at the time what the website offered, and how useful they would be to me even now, after all those years had passed.
Let me try and explain. What the site offers is software, but it's not simple software. The package that I downloaded from the site is an extensive package that enables me to place my photographs into a file, add transitional effects and background music, and make DVDs that could be played by my friends all over the world. Little by little this site have worked on their projects to provide users with all kinds of easily used software that includes all kinds of enhancements to make your experience of creating DVDs and slideshows for putting on blogs easy to do. Their download centre has a variety of programs, and what I particularly like about the site is that it remembers that people aren't all expert, and give good, clear tutorials on their products on the website, as well as being so confident about the quality of their products that they are happy that you download a trial version.
My first experiences with the site were super. I found all the information that I needed, and was sold on the idea that this was indeed software that would help me, and it did. I created DVDs for friends and family which were astoundingly professional without having any expertise at all, because the programs that the site sell are so simple to use.
The new software enhancements that they have recently added are tempting and help you to create pages on the internet through Myspace and blogs, or to create albums to share with others. This side of the programs doesn't interest me very much, although knowing the quality of the program that I bought, could be tempted to give the newer programs a try.
The DVD builder works out at around 22 GBP, although I feel that I got my moneys worth. The site is secure, and payment is simple accepting all major credit cards, although the reason for writing the review is more complex than that. What this site offers and what impresses me the most is online help that I have never experienced on any other website.
The way that it works is that there is a section at the top of the site telling you whether the link is live or not, or in other words whether the shop is open or closed in old fashioned terms. When it is live, you can get into a messenger service direct to their technical or after sales staff and talk in real time to resolve problems, and that is amazing. I have had to use this service three times, and each time because of my own error, rather than any problem with programs. Twice my hard drive had been re-formatted, and I had lost the original email with the code to open up the program.
They were quick to help me, found my order even though it was over a year old, and sent me a fresh email with a download link and a new code. This time, I have a new computer, and I really do value the program and again, the live link with their staff quickly traced my original order from my old email address, and posted the information I needed to set the program back up again. I was talking to a lady in China each time, and was impressed at the friendliness and courteousness of a company that seems to understand that even one off customers like me are important.
The site has its own forum and does encourage members to talk about their product, as well as having email contact which is replied to rapidly. The site is user friendly and easy and quick to navigate and the amount of information shown on the site is sufficient to make good decisions about whether the software suits you.
I often wonder since using this site why more commercial sites don't have live technical advice chat, because this really is a plus for the site and for the users. I would recommend this site both for its usefulness to the consumer, and for the manner in which it explains the process of making photos into DVDs simply. It helped me enormously, and site staff are super. Their products are first rate and offer good value for money and keep up to date with the latest trendsm whilst not forgetting that people are not always technically clever.
A first rate service.
