Advantages: Vouchers, Exclusives and Competitions

Disadvantages: Less reward for your spend

Pigsback is a cash back site of sorts, with a funky, fresh, easy to navigate feel. Once you have created an account (grabbing the free registration points as you do), you use the portal to do your internet shopping, earning 'piggy points' as you go. Pigsback launched originally in Ireland almost 9 years ago, the UK met the site in 2005 and it has now expanded further, moving to Canada in 2007. The site works by advertising online shopping sites on it's home page, then you click the link to that site, spend your hard earned cash and earn the piggy points as a thank you. So not dissimilar to quidco.com; you are in effect getting something for nothing.

Take note, if you are a shrewd cashback shopper, you will exhaust all other cashback sites prior to using pigsback. This is not because the site is poor, its because the rewards are less, and not monetary as such. You convert your piggy points in to vouchers, not into money as you do on quidco.com. You basically need to check both sites, or others if you use others, to ensure you are getting the most reward for the money you are spending.

A quick example of some of the rewards you can get from pigsback include a £5 voucher to spend at HQHair.com for 1500 piggy points, a chart CD (from a selection) from Cdwow.com for 1900 piggy points, a £10 Arcadia Voucher for 3000 piggy points, or a £20 Amazon E Voucher for 6000 piggy points.

Some examples of how to collect points include:

Snapfish - 15 piggy points for every £1 spent
JD Sports - 12 piggy points with every £1 spent
Laura Ashley - 12 piggy points with every £1 spent
Joe Browns - Earn 450 piggy points per order
Boots - 8 piggy points per £1 spent

They also have exclusive deals with certain merchants, for example Vistaprint, you earn 100 piggy points and get 500 free Business Cards or 10% Discount at Dorothy Perkins, plus piggy points for your spending.

Joe Browns appear on quidco.com. You get 10% cashback on your order. So for example if you spend £30 including P+P you would get £3 cashback. On Pigsback you would get 450 points, which would not even get you a £5 voucher. However Snapfish only give cashback through quidco.com for your first order. After that, you would use Pigsback. This is an example of how to be a shrewd shopper.

It is important to remember this review is not about cashback / reward site shopping. Pigsback is a good reward site in general, and like I have already said you are getting a reward for nothing, being shrewd and understanding the advice above just enhances your experience and volume of rewards.

There are other ways to increase your piggy points too. Clicking on some adverts will give you say 10 or 20 piggy points. There are competitions such as Sudoku and tie breakers, wordsearches and teasers for which you can win up to 2000 piggy points. So these can be worth consideration, particularly if you are on the computer each day, doing the puzzles will save you money on buying puzzle books, and you will be in with a chance of winning (again a reward for nothing - just a little bit of time). You will receive a piggy email each week to update you on your points in your piggy bank and also to tell you about specific offers and deals. Sometimes they also send you money off vouchers, like most recently, when I received £1 off a 4-pack of Guinness!

Summary: Shop around when using cashback sites!
