The other half LOVES pizza; left to his own devices I am sure he would have pizza for every meal! This being the case whenever we decide to have take-away, (usually motivated by utter laziness), he always wants pizza so I have had a fair bit of experience with our local Pizza Hut!
If I can't find a menu for the local "Hut" I tend to use the website, sometimes I also get emailed discount codes from time to time and these have to be used online.
The site itself is easy to use; just enter your postcode, (or log in if you have registered with the site), and you are ready to go. The menus are easily arranged by type, Deals, Pizza, Pasta etc so it is always easy to find what you are looking for. The design is modern and exactly what you would expect from Pizza Hut.
Once you have ordered paying is simple. You can pay by cash, (but only on orders under £20.00), or by credit or debit card including Solo. If you register it stores your email address, postcode etc but not your house number or card details so you will have to select/enter these each time you place an order.
A feature I really like is the "order for later" option which let's you specify a time to have your food delivered. I like this so much as it allows me to order whenever we decide to have pizza and pay and then we don't have to do anything until the pizza arrives. Whenever we have ordered using this option our food has always arrived on time, in fact most times they are 5-10 minutes early.
The deals are quite good, although I think take-away pizza is vastly over-priced in general. The best deal for a couple in my opinion is the buy one get one half price option but there are many deals including pizzas, drinks, sides and pasta that there is pretty much a deal for everyone and they do offer good savings on the standard prices.
The menu offers all the normal pizza and pasta options plus drinks, desserts and sides and there is normally a special edition pizza, at the moment it is the Terminator pizza to "celebrate" the release of the new film.
The pizzas are nice, we normally have the "Italian", (thin and crispy), base which is always cooked nicely and there are plenty of topping but not too much cheese which I like. The pizzas used to have a lot more grease, (the bottom of the box was normal soaked in it), but recently they have been a lot better! The meat and vegetables are normally nice and cooked well too but I find the beef a little unpleasant. The sides are okay, nothing special, and tend to be of a disappointing size. They have always arrived piping hot.
You get an email when you order to confirm the order and to tell you it's "in the kitchen".
I have used the site so many times and I have only ever had two problems and one problem was quite a big one.
The first time they sent two correct pizzas and a wrong one and forgot the soft drink we had paid for. We rang them and they immediately sent the right pizza and the drink and didn't take the wrong one away but it was still a pain as we didn't get to all eat together but we were impressed by the service none-the-less.
The second problem was just before Christmas when we ordered a huge order for six people. Shortly after we received a call saying they could not meet our order as the ovens were broken and that they were very sorry but the website shouldn't have accepted our order. As we had already paid via card I asked for a refund but they said we would have to wait until Monday and ring the headquarters because the store couldn't issue a refund. I found this to be a huge problem as we don't have a lot of money and that meant we couldn't afford a take-away somewhere else! Now I can understand the ovens not working and accept that they could not help it but I really wanted my money back.
On the Monday we rang HQ and were told that we would get our money back in about three days. We waited; no money. We rang them and got told that they hadn't authorised the payment and that they would do so and we get the money in about three days. Well you guessed it; no money - again! This went on for a while and in total it took over a month to get our money back with lots of frustration on our part. Eventually they refunded us and gave us £15.00 of vouchers too to make up for it. It did get solved and the vouchers were nice but it was pretty awful service and it was a while before we used them again!
In fairness though we have used them so many other times with no problems at all that I would still recommend them but watch out if something goes wrong!
Summary: Fine as long as nothing goes wrong...
