Disadvantages: gives poets false hopes

This is another of those sites that offers fame and fortune to frustrated writers. All you have to do is to pay a fee to enter your poetry into a competition. If you do this you will get lots of praise. They will shower you with flattery and you will really believe that at last your poetic genius has been recognised.Or will you?

Once you've reached the semi final stage you will get even more praise and they will offer you the opportunity to actually get your work published. Wow! Success" Or is it?

There's just one small catch here. You need to send them $60, just as a contribution towards the cost of the exercise.

It's not a competition. If the book appears your poem will be crammed in with hundreds of others. It won't matter how good, or bad they are as that makes no difference. What matters is that you send $60.

It looks as though it could be very lucrative for the publishers but it certainly won't do your image as a writer any good.

Unfortunately, success as a poet just isn't this easy! Don't send these people your money!
