Advantages: Very fast payment
Disadvantages: none
After reading a review on this website about Postal Gold I decided to take a look, I had lots of jewelry that was either broken or I just didn't wear it any more so I thought this site sounded like a good way of getting a bit of extra cash.
The website is www.postalgold.com, it's very straight forward to navigate around and it pretty much tells you all you need to know. Basically they are a company who pay you for unwanted gold (they do not payout for gemstones), they also accept platinum and palladium but not silver.
All you need to do is request the postal kit by filling in the short form on the right hand side of the web page and then wait for you kit to arrive (mine came the next day). In the kit you get two envelopes, one is padded for the jewelry to go into and the other is a pre paid Royal Mail envelope, you put whatever jewelry you want to cash in (does not matter if its broken) into the padded envelope, you need to make sure the details are correct, then put it in the postal bag and drop it into your local post office.
The envelope is insured for up to £500 so it is totally safe send your gold through the post, once they have received your item they value it and email you to let you know how much you it is worth, I sent a broken bracelet and got £10 for it which I didn't think was to bad especially as I hadn't worn it for years.
If you don't agree with the valuation then you email or phone them to let them know, then you give them their money back and they will send your items back to you, they will not melt the gold until 7 days after they had issued the payment so you have plenty of time to get your gold back.
If it turns out that an item you sent is not gold then you can get it sent back to you but it will cost you £10, so it's best to make sure its gold before you send it.
I received the check two days after I had posted my gold to them so payment is very quick indeed, you can also request payments via bank transfer. Overall this is quite a good way of getting rid of broken chains etc and making a bit of cash out of them.
Summary: Ideal way to make money out of your jewelry that is either broken or you just dont wear
