If you want some free books just click on the tab at the top left that says 'Project Gutenberg.' What is this project? ________________________ This mammoth project began in 1971. It aims to provide a whole free library of Public Domain Etexts. A work can't be considered to be in the Public Domain until the author has been dead for 50 years (US Law). There's a lot more on the site about this if anyone is interested. The etexts which include information and other materials are intended to be really easy to download and read without special equipment. I love this piece of text ! When you get something for free you get what you pay for, that means if you don't use what you get for free, it won't do you any good, but sometimes it is nice to have a library that you and your friends and family can use, even if they don't always use it. Project Gutenberg can be accessed at http://www.promo.net/pg/ . This is basically a library of plain test books made available on the internet. This can be done because the books are out of copyright. There is a vast selection of literary works in the data base from Homer to Houdini Sophocles to Shakespeare and Dante to DeFoe even with a copy of the Hackers Dictionary of Computer Jargon it is all available easily and free of charge. You can read them on line, or print them off. OK…….. they are in plain text format that are not the most attractive looking texts, but in putting them in this format they are the most widely accessible, ...  Read the complete review

The Gutenburg Project www.promo.net/pg So what is this Gutenburg all about? Easy free literature. Books that were written sometime ago whose authors have died lose their copyright after several years and become public property. The Gutenburg project uses this idea and the help of willing volunteers to upload the text of these books. They are then available for us as users to download and read at our leisure either on the computer or print off (especially of you work in an office with a fast printer). You won't find the new Steven King book but you will find those old classics that you never thought you'd ever read but ...  Read the complete review
