Missing Limbs Aplenty
Member Name: Larrabee
Advantages: Mildly amusing, clearly laid out
Disadvantages: Not laugh out loud hilarious usually
Photoshop Disasters can be found at www.psdisasters.com and is one of the many photo blogs that have cropped up in the last few years where people submit funny images they have found in a specific topic. As the name suggests, this blog is dedicated to the times when photoshopping goes horribly wrong, which happens surprisingly often!
Its funnier than it sounds, a lot of the mistakes aren't obvious at first glance but when you realise what's wrong it seems glaringly obvious. Limbs gone wrong are a big feature, missing limbs, limbs facing in bizarre directions, unusually long or short limbs, limbs that have a different skin colour to the rest of the models body. Its not just limbs of course, but they do feature heavily!
This blog is probably aimed at people who use photoshop themselves or are involved in graphic design or photography somehow. There are little in jokes that relate to tools used in Photoshop or methods that have fallen out of fashion. You can still enjoy it as a photoshop virgin though, as some of the images are just so ridiculous it doesn't matter if you know why and how it went wrong or not!
The design of the blog is pretty basic, a plain background, a red and black banner and some links to 'favourites' as well as the standard advertising links found on these sorts of blogs. I would have hoped that a blog based on such a visual subject might be a bit more visually interesting itself, but nevermind, at least it doesn't detract from the images.
The commentary on Photoshop Disasters isn't as funny or biting as the commentary on some other blogs of this genre, which is a shame, and sometimes it doesn't explain why the image is a 'disaster' which is a tad frustrating as like I said it isn't always instantly obvious!
Summary: Worth a look, but not in my top 5
