Being an avid musician I am always on the lookout for new websites that can offer me something different or some kind of useful amount of resources. Instead of just sticking to the normal promotional networking sites like Myspace, I like to get my music spread as far and wide as I can. Upon my search I found Pump Audio, an extremely handy site for serious musicians which has some useful contacts.

Pump Audio describe themselves as a real marketplace for independent artists and claims that it gets its artists paid. They cater for all genres and anybody can submit their own music. Pump Audio seems to be part of a new revolution of up and coming websites like Sliethepie and Sellaband, which offer alternative solutions to the standard business model of traditional methods, i.e. the major record companies.

Pump Audio also claim to have made 80,000 placements in TV for independent artists last year alone and there is no submission fee for artists to submit their music. As with other newer websites such as Slicethepie users retain 100% ownership of their copyright. They also receive 50% of the license fees that Pump Audio receive from their music.

The one aspect of this website that really appeals to me personally is the fact that when you sign up everything is on a non-exclusive basis. This means that you can still carry on and do anything you want with your music and get other companies involved. Of course, if you are offered some kind of deal you will have to declare this to the company.

Summary: Another useful resource musicians shouldn't be without!
