Advantages: addictive, cute, lots of fun
Disadvantages: some parts still in Japanese
Poupeegirl is french for paper girl. The website is basically a girl who you dress up much like the original paper girl's many girl's had a as a child.
It was originally just in Japanese, but as the site has progressed most of it now has been translated to english - with only a few more parts to be done.
So what exactly is it?
You start off by creating your basic girl - choose her eyes, lips, nose, face, skin colour, hair and hair colour. Then you get given some clothing to start you off. The main idea is then to post photos of your own clothing in order to gain new poupee clothes and 'ribbons' (ribbons is the poupee girl currency)
You can then browse other members closet and comment on thei clothes. For every comment you make you gain another ribbon - with a max of 20 ribbons a day. For every comment you receive you gain another ribbon (again a max of 20 a day)
There is also a button called 'suteki' which is Japanese for 'cool'
You press this button if you like the item of clothing someone owns.
Everyday there is the top 10 suteki ranking where the people who make it into the top 10 most suteki's for that day win ribbons.
Other features include the poupee market where you buy and sell poupee clothes. You can buy ribbons. A contest is held every so often for a best dressd poupee to a theme, where users vote. There is a shopping mall where you can spend your ribbons on limited and new clothing for sale for your poupee. By taking a snapshot of your poupee everyday you gain more ribbons, and if you don't miss a day, at the end of the month you get 100 ribbons bonus.
The website layout is very simple to use and allows users to browse clothing via brand as well as new items and their friends' items.
Overal the website is very girlie and lots of fun, and somewhat addictive. Once you get into it you find yourself photographing every single item of clothing/accessorie you own and wanting more ribbons to buy those limited items!
Summary: A fun website for girls who love fashion!
