I must admit I looked on this site to check the details of a Pyrex dish I was going to review. Now I am going to review the Pyrex site. I typed Pyrex into my search engine and the first site that came up was Pyrex .com. Clicking on and opening to the first page. The red bordered page gives you options of locations in North America South America Asia Japan Europe Middle East or Africa Choosing Europe I open a new page, I then played the game they offered to try and win some Pyrex. I may be incorrect in stating that Pyrex were the first manufacturer of shatterproof glass but they are certainly the first to produce cookware and they are definitely the most well known, to such an extent that often their name is used to described all glass cookware, much in the way that Hoover is used to describe all vacuum cleaners. Pyrex glass came into being after the Corning Glass Company was asked to produce a low expansion lantern glass for use on US railroads, to replace the flint glass globes which were then being used and which frequently broke during bad weather.
