Advantages: Regular surveys, pays very well
Disadvantages: None
I'm always looking for a way to make a bob or two but there are hundreds of survey sites out there allowing you to do just that, so it's difficult to know which ones to try. Some inevitably turn out to be a disappointment, whilst others prove to be quite lucrative and fulfilling. I would put Quickwise firmly in the second category.
WHAT IS QUICKWISE AND HOW DOES IT WORK?
Quickwise is a website that was set up to find out what consumers think of certain products and services. Its purpose is to give companies the opportunity to test advertising before launching a particular product or service.
Surveys are based on a representative sample of the UK population and are conducted solely via the internet. They can be about anything from advertising films to brands or new products. Once you have registered, you will be sent an e-mail every time a new survey is available for completion. It is your choice whether you complete it or not, as surveys are not compulsory. In addition to the e-mail, you can opt to receive a text message on your mobile phone when a new survey is available. This is particularly useful in the daytime because most people have access to a mobile phone, but not always to their home e-mail account.
IS IT EASY TO JOIN?
Becoming a member of Quickwise is incredibly easy - and doesn't cost you anything either! You simply register through the website, giving some basic details, such as name, address, date of birth and gender. These details help them decide which surveys are most relevant to you and therefore which ones to send. As you might expect, there is a short disclaimer, telling you that your personal details will NEVER be passed onto any of the company's clients or any other third party group.
Although most people can join Quickwise, there are some pre-requisites as well. You MUST:
- have a mobile phone;
- be able to access the Internet;
- be 16 years of age or older; and
- be a UK resident.
HOW OFTEN WILL I GET SURVEYS?
This is an important question for anyone wishing to join. From my experience, sites offering online surveys do not always live up to expectations. Often you are attracted by an an initial bonus for joining, only to find months later that you haven't actually completed a survey! Or you get sites where you are sent surveys, only to be told that you do not qualify for them after all or that too many people have already responded. Aaarrgghh!! I'm sure many of us can relate to at least some of these experiences.
In my opinion, Quickwise is one of the most reliable survey sites on the Internet. You probably won't get surveys all the time and sometimes you might not get them for several months, but one thing is certain: you will get them eventually and you should always be eligible to complete them when you do. I have been a member of Quickwise for over a year now and have never been told that it is too late to complete a survey, although do bear in mind that surveys typically close after a few days, so it is important to reply as quickly as possible.
GETTING PAID
I know...this is the bit you've all been waiting for: how much will I get paid?
Well… you get £3 simply for joining the Quickwise Panel and £1 for every survey you complete. Not bad, eh?! Because surveys are generally quite short and only take a couple of minutes, it is surprising how much you can earn within a relatively short amount of time. Compared to some of the other survey sites I have used in the past, Quickwise pays very well indeed. Not many sites will consistently pay its members £1 per survey, so it is well worth joining.
A points system is used to determine how much you get paid. Basically, you get 300 points for joining (this works out at £3) and 100 points (£1) thereafter for any surveys you complete. Once you reach a minimum of 900 points, you can choose to request your first payment. You can have this in cash, a cheque, vouchers or, if you prefer, have the funds transferred directly into your bank account. Strangely, though, you can only request payment in denominations of 900. So you can request payment after 900 points, 1800 points, 2700 points and so on…but nothing in between!
You can also decide to donate your earnings to charity. Simply choose from a list of charities listed on the website. Currently these are:
- Amnesty International
- British Red Cross
- Cancer Research UK
- Disaster Emergency Committee (DEC)
- MENCAP
- Oxfam
- Save the Children UK
- SCOPE
- The Blue Cross
- UNICEF
- WWF (Wildlife Fund)
MY EXPERIENCE
I first found out about Quickwise from reading a review that someone had written on Ciao.co.uk back last year. I joined straight away and received surveys very quickly after joining. I can honestly say that it is one of the best websites for online surveys that I know of, as it allows you to earn pounds rather than pence and surveys are accessible and easy to complete. I particularly like the fact that you are credited with points straight after completing a survey, rather than having to wait overnight for your account to be updated. You can also see exactly what your points balance is and what surveys you have already completed. Overall, the website is clear, user-friendly and easy to navigate.
