Advantages: It saves me money- always a good thing
Disadvantages: None, unless you don't read the supplier notes
Quidco is a cashback site and by shopping online using the links provided by them you earn cashback on all your purchases.
I am a fan of Quidco and as I have just been charged my £5 annual membership fee again, I must have been a member for just over a year. In that time my earnings have been almost £400.
What made me decide to try it was that they advised that I wouldn't pay my £5 annual fee until I had earned it. So I thought I might as well give it a go.
You get paid as soon as they get paid- so some months you will get nothing, the next month maybe £1.12 and then another month £100. You can always keep an eye on what has been paid, and when the balances are due to be paid on your personal earnings schedule.
Each supplier page, gives information on the normal tracking and payment times. I have only ever had two problems and on both occasions, by using their very well organised earnings enquiry system they were corrected without any fuss.
I know I will not make as much over the coming year, I mean I can't take out another credit card and earn £25 and I doubt renewing my household insurance will earn me a cashback of £68 again. But it does all add up and I earn good cashback now when I shop with interflora, buy train tickets, book hotel rooms, or buy beauty products and miscellaneous other purchases. I recently booked a weekend break for two and got £34 cashback - and that was with, a company I have used for short breaks for years.
One word of warning- always read the instructions that come up prior to entering a specific site- quite often this will be general instructions, but sometimes it gives you an extra bonus- for example last week I went thru Interflora to order some flowers and the entry page gave me a promotion code to get free delivery on top of the Quidco cashback.
I never shop online now without checking if the company is on their list- why would I? They seem to be adding new companies all the time.
There are also several companies that pay out small cashback sums 50p or £1 just for getting insurance quotes or for joining their mailing list. They are all featured on a NO SPEND list.
Earlier last year I joined a pools company- they offered at the time £15 cash back once you had placed a £10 wager on the pools- so that was me £5 up.
There are also competitions you can enter, I admit I don't always remember to enter them- (note to self- must enter this month's to win a Porsche for a weekend).
The money is paid into your bank account at beginning of every month.
So have a look around the site and see if there are companies you already use and if there is, then join up and get, what is more often than not a very decent discount.
Another word of warning - if you look and see that a company you have been using without earning cash back is on the site- sadness can occur.
Summary: Great site-check it out
