Advantages: Cashback, nice site
Disadvantages: Lower cashback than some others, tracking problems
Quidco's a cashback site, meaning that if you want to buy something online you go to Quidco.com, type the name of your chosen merchant in the search box, and then click the link that Quidco supplies to reach the retailer. Simple.
It works by setting tracking cookies: the target site knows you came there from Quidco, and Quidco knows how much you spent. Then, depending on the retailer, you get either a percentage of that amount back or a fixed amount.
Quidco's very simple and intuitive to use, and their layout is clean and clear. Some cashback sites are much brighter and busier, which makes them more irritating on the eye (topcashback I'm looking in your direction). Cashback rates are pretty good, although some other sites have higher for some retailers. Quidco also has an administration fee of £5 a year, that comes out of your earnings. That's fine, except that other sites don't have it, and although I prefer Quidco to the others for a variety of reasons I still find it rather annoying.
My main problem is that Quidco and Internet Explorer don't always play nicely together so I have to go chasing up missing transactions. This has happened maybe eight or nine times, and while the Quidco staff are quick to chase up the missing transactions and good at keeping me informed, it's still annoying to have to do it.
Still, it's a great service and worth signing up.
Summary: Click for cash.

- 17/09/09 I've been waiting about a year for payment from them on one transaction even though it tracked. They are now refusing to pay out unless I give them all the details needed for identity theft. Not happy with them at all. |
