Advantages: Cashback of course!
Disadvantages: Becareful of buying more expensive products and services just to get cash back
I have been a member of Quidco since September 2006 and I have earned £937.14 less £15 commission. Each year they take a £5 admin fee from you for membership to the site. I see this site as a good way to earn around £300 extra per annum, just for using it for your house / car / life / travel insurances and for Christmas Shopping. This doesnt seem like a large amount but it is about £25 a month extra income for nothing! You are getting paid to shop which is ideal!
Quidco is a good cashback site, however you need to take notice of a few tips.
Whilst it can seem very appealing to earn cashback for all of your shopping, if you just perhaps change supermarkets, or you change gas suppliers, it can sometimes work out more expensive in the long run.
Here is an example, you pay £30 per month for home insurance, going through Quidco, you can get home insurance for £40 per month, but you get £100 cashback! Over the year, your new insurance product works out at £120 more, so you are £20 out of pocket. I know this a pretty obvious example, but I suppose what I am trying to say is dont be blinded by the cashback, try to use Quidco in addition to moneysavingexpert.com, moneysupermarket, mysupermarket, etc.
A great little tip is to get cashback for no spends, like for requesting an insurance quote from gocompare. You can only get these a limited amount of times, sometimes only once, but it is money for nothing; just a little bit of time.
Another good tip is to go on the gambling cashback sites. As an example, a while ago the deal with Coral was £10 deposit got you £25 cashback on quidco, plus you got 100% match betting on Coral's site. Quidco also paid you 2% of your winnings within the first month. So if you have £10 spare and you register it on Coral you got £25 (already made £15) then you get £10 free off Coral so you have £20 to gamble. If you won nothing, who cares, you made £15, if you won, you got to withdraw the winnings from Coral plus you got 2% cashback on your winnings. It was great!
YOU MUST BE CAREFUL of deposting more though once you get to these sites. Your only a winner if you walk away.
MAKE SURE that you dont try ripping them off too, or you will not get paid. As an example buying insurance policies, getting the cashback and then cancelling the policy. They can clawback cashback or decline it.
Before you buy anything check if you can get cashback on Quidco, but make sure it is a good deal in the first place!
Cashback is paid in to your bank via BACS, or through pay pal which is only available up to a max of £50. If you change your bank details a hold is placed on your account for up to 10 days for security purposes.
On most well-known brands, like Tesco, Alliance and Leicester, etc you get paid within a month or two, but sometimes it can take ages. There are statistics for the merchants once you look at them, so it will tell you tracking speed, how quick you can see the cashback track, payment speed, how quick you will be paid, reliability, will you have to chase your cashback?
So, chasing cashback, all you need to do is submit an enquiry. There are rules to these, as an example, you sometimes may need to wait 60 days before you can chase it up. You normally have to provide account or reference numbers, so make sure you have these to hand. As an example, I have been a member 3 years, I have had 3 enquiries in that time, to the value of £86 out of the £900+ I have earned. All 3 enquiries were successful and dealt with promptly.
The online support are great, check out the Quidclans too if you enjoy online communities.
Summary: Money for nothing, who wouldnt want that?
