Newest Review: ...  Viewable on text-only browsers  World-class relevancy  Lightning-fast performance  News related to your query So did the raging site that was so highly recommended to me come close to being the best? Or was it just altavista in disguise. Well, it was neither really. It isn’t the best search in the world. First the appearance of the homepage is very poor I am sure I could have done better. No colour just pain text. If we look at google.com that’s simplicity but also attractive but this I am afraid to say is just boring. The site is a poor version of altavista, doesn’t contain any of the ... more

Premium Review raging.com: It will make you rage (445 words)

It was my husband who came across this search engine and suggested that I check it out, which I did. I was quite surprised when this site loaded up to find it was called raging.com since it seemed more of a Altavita.com site and raging.com on the side. But, that where my husband informed me was the good thing about the site. As the site clearly states “in their efforts to provide the worlds best search engine they have combined Raging Search with the improved AltaVista Text search”. The new Text Search provides all of the features of Raging Search, and more:  Viewable on text-only browsers  World-class relevancy ...  Read the complete review

A simple customisable search engine (707 words)

Raging Search Raging Search claims to be the premier search site for the web. They are backed and part of AltaVista but lacks all the information that AltaVista has. They are relatively new and in time might be the premier search site for the web. The part I like about Raging Search is it is simple, easy to use, fairly effective and you can customize the start page to your liking. They are not fancy in design at all, this makes them simple and easy to use and understand. Customize Customize a search engine from scratch the way you want it to work for you. If you have never clicked on the link before than you will find a plain blank page with ...  Read the complete review

For years, Altavista was THE definitive web search engine. In the past year or so, Google have won acclaim for their stripped down search page which offers considerably faster loading times than most of their competitors, since there is no reliance on banner ads. Raging.com was launched recently to win back web users who had been switching their loyalties to Google. Using the same familiar search engine (and database) as the old Altavista search page, Raging.com uses a much simpler layout. As the popularity of the web increased, Altavista decided that they should try to mirror Yahoo’s web portal concept, rather than concentrating on the basic search ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review It's all the RAGE (311 words)

We all use search engines at some time or other, and a good search engine is hard to find. The current favourite appears to be ‘Google’ though I often use Infind.com, but more and more I tend to use ‘raging search’. This is a search engine which has been constructed by the ‘ technical wizards’ from the giant ‘Altavista’ who have ‘culled’ all of the text on over 300 million web pages, making it one of the biggest search engine indexes in existence, and I personally rate it as 5 Star Plus. Raging search is simple and uncluttered by banners and adverts and it gets the job done ! ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review raging.com: Google mk2? (159 words)

Raging is another stripped down search engine which looks and feels suspiciously like Google. Instead of those hugely overblown web portals that offer a directory of this and an entrance to this that and the other, Raging simply offers a search box and a cursor prompt. This is far better in my opinion and when you consider that its search results are actually very good as well then you may not consider using the alternatives again. Of course it is nowhere near as effective as its predecessor Google, but it is an alternative source to consider when you have exhausted your options there. Overall, it looks pretty basic, but it isn't. Instead of making a flashy ...  Read the complete review
