railtrack.comNewest Review: ... cakes and drinks.....all at extremely high prices, so my advice is bring some of your own with you! If you want to go upmarket they have a selection of 4 or 5 dishes, as well as wines and spirits, which I've always passed on. The trolley service offers a plumy waiter, who calls you Sir or Madame and tries to sell you drinks and snacks at treble the high street prices…again, take your own!. As for the toilets, well I hope you're not desperate! Anyone who has had the aeroplane experience in the loo will relate to the toilets here.....they sway from ... more |

Railtrack is a name that most people have heard of, mainly due to the terrible accidents, the huge salaries of the top dogs and the increasingly poor service. Recent adverts on television state that they are now working together to increase safety and improve the running of their trains overall - but how bad are they? I have the fortune (or rather misfortune) of travelling with them at regular intervals for visits to my other half, so I’m fast becoming a rail track expert! THE TRAINS Pre-booking allows you to have seats reserved, in either smoking or non-smoking; this is a good idea, especially if you are travelling on a ... Read the complete review

The Railtrack journey planner's a useful looking thing. You bung in where you're starting from and where you're going, your approximate time of travel, and voila, it provides you with a list telling you times, where you have to change, everything the internet journey planner needs apart from a good price list. Now you know which station you have to get to and where you have to change, you're totally sorted, making your way with the quiet assured confidence of a truly organised traveller. And then you get to the station and the train you want is nowhere to be found. You ask the station staff and they look confused until you wave your carefully ... Read the complete review

Railtrack have teamed up with a great site called Kizoom (www.kizoom.com). At this site you can set up a calendar for yourself showing where you will probably be at any given time (e.g. 9-5 at work, and so on). You can then log in to the kizoom site on a WAP phone and it will tell you the time of the next train from home to work or whatever, depending on the date and time. You can also set up favorite destinations, so you can easily find when your most used trains are. This is one of the best WAP applications I have seen because there is almost no typing required, it just presents you with the key information by guessing what you want to know. Of ... Whatever railtracks failings may be when it comes to signalling, tracks, stations, and trains, of one thing you can be sure... this is the best train timetable online. All you do is simply enter in start, destination, date, and time, plus additional maximum stops, or avoiding london... and within seconds it finds you all the trains from all the operators running in the UK. If you need later or earlier trains, just click a tab, and it adds them on nicely! Then when you have chosen the right train, you can check a box, and get more details on that (or more on the same page) journey. I would have been lost on many occasions if it hadn't been for this. It far ... Read the complete review

I used this site for the first time today as I needed to find out some train times. I was plesantly surprised with the ease of use and speed of the search. All you do is type in the name of the station you are travelling from, and your destination. You then type in the date, and the time you want to travel. The search then comes up with (very quickly) three train times nearest to the time you have specified. There is then a link to click on labelled "return". You click on this and it automatically brings up the search again with the stations reversed, and then you just type in the approxiamte time you want to return, and hey presto, you get the times! ...
