Refrewards is another get paid to read email offer. Refrewards does differ as members do not just earn money by reading an emails and going to the site, members can earn a higher rate by signing up to offers and websites. There are other ways to earn including points emails, refer friends and taking part in surveys. The normal rate of pay for just visiting a web site is between three and ten cents the amount each email is worth is included in the refrewards email. The typical payment for signing up to an offer is approx fifty sents. If members refer any one else they will receive one cent for each email their referalls read and ten percent of their total earnings. They are now offering points if you have the refrewards portal as your homepage. Memebers will receive ten points every time they open their homepage as long as there is an hour time differnce and not more than ten times per day. You will also receive one point every time a referall open the homepage. The value of points is roughly seventy five percent of the revenue that refrewards receives. The minimum payment level is fifteen dollars through paypal and twenty five dollars is by cheque. The disadvantage for international members is that they only pay out in dollars. Members can purcahse gold membership which is supposed to increase their earnings. The fee is fifteen dollars and the membership is for life. Refrewards does not send out a lot of emails and they can be a hassle to do as you have to constantly fill in your details in order to get credit for the email.

The current state of the ‘Rewards Program/Paid To Surf etc Industry worldwide has had the effect that many people view new companies with distrust. Too many are ‘here today – gone tomorrow’. Well, I have news for you, REFREWARDS has shaken off the gloom and doom and might just be one that ‘bucks the trend’. This company is the brainchild of Chris Shaw (from England) and his business partner Rick Hill (from Kansas USA). Both of them are Directors of ‘Refmaker’ one of the oldest established, professional and most efficient downline building programs around. The idea for RefRewards was conceived in November 2000. RefRewards launched in January 2001. They paid members for the first time on March 1st, 2001 – via PayPal. They have also paid members each month since - subject to the $15 minimum. Primarily, it is a Paid Email program, but they are also offering 'paid to sign up' earnings, a paid portal page and have plans to offer surveys at a later stage. They began by sending out 'targetted' emails to members that they felt may be interested in the program. The current ‘Paid to sign up’ schemes and not just the tired old regulars as constantly rammed down our throats by such as Spedia and the rest of the ‘old brigade’. Many of them are different, some small programs that can benefit from the exposure and loyal user base that Refrewards can offer. There are 4 levels of referrals and it is available Internationally. Statistics are real time - you can see the usernames of your referrals, but you can not contact them. When you refer people, your username will be embedded in as the referrer and it will not be able to be deleted. Each email you receive is usually worth 5 cents – but for each mail out, one lucky member will receive a bonus of $5. And believe me this is true, because I was the lucky member who was awarded the ‘bo
nus’ on the 2nd email-out! Not all mail outs go to every member. But they now have had close to 100 general emails sent to members The company – Rick and Chris – are savvy enough to target the emails, like I said. For example if an advertiser’s product is only available to US & Canada member – Refrewards only send emails out to their US & Canada members. Simple really, and the same goes if another Advertiser wants to target his mailout to a particular interest group amongst members. This sensible outlook has two advantages : • A) Not wasting valuable time and money mailing to people who won’t be interested or are unable to use the product • B) Better Advertiser satisfaction as the percentage of emails that are actioned upon is higher than the industry average. Thus, hopefully, repeat business! RefRewards aim is to be around for quite a while. They currently have 20,000 members – most of them ‘active’ as they are satified that this company is going places and are constantly coming up with the goods. So far in the five months they’ve been in operation, I myself have received 40 emails from them – higher than any other similar program I know of. The minimum amount required in your account to receive a payment is currently $15 – and you could achieve that fairly quickly if you have a reasonable active downline and sign up for a proportion of the offers – or get that $5 bonus like me! Another facet of RefRewards is the option of buying a ‘Gold membership’. It costs just $15 (an amount you could recover inside two or three months) and offers you free referrals – i.e anyone signing up that has not been referred is allocated to a ‘Gold member’. I know other schemes that offer this system, but RefRewards’ one appears to be satisfying members – so much so that some are offering to sign up
a member under them and PAY for them to be a Gold member! There are going to be other additional benefits for ‘Gold members’ in due course. If you are interested in this very promising program, I would not put you off it. Please realise that this will not make you 'rich' quick - but if you are looking for a reliable, honest 'paid to read' program, this is it. I do highly commend this program to you all – I have faith in Chris and Rick, they are just like us, but have the right connections.

**UPDATE** 03/10/2001 So far I had earned $62.29, with $59.61 of that having been paid through PayPal already. Although the emails have been slow to build in volume, there have been points emails that you can earn money with, and if you set the Portal Page to be your home page you can earn money too. RefRewards also has games where you can win prizes, although these prizes are very small due to lack of support for the advetisers from the games players. I believe that the money potential of RefRewards will grow, and that Rick Hill and Chris Shaw have been pursuing the right strategy by switching to points, so that RefRewards is sustainable long-term. I have noticed an increase in income since the introduction of the points emails, as there are more emails. I have had 19 direct referrals and 15 indirect referrals as a result of those direct referrals from my Gold membership, which is not bad. **END OF UPDATE** This program is in its early days as yet. It seems quite easy to get referrals, and I already have 15, having joined up on the 25th January 2001. ************************************************** 26th January 2001 - The first email (3c) has arrived!!! Only one day after signing up, and the program is so new that it really is the first email. For more on the reading email procedure and stats see later. 28th January 2001 - second email (4c) arrived. 3rd February 2001 - third email (3c) arrived. ************************************************** The program is RefRewards, and at the moment it is building a user base in order to attract advertisers. This should not take long, as it is a division of RefMaker.com, which has over 30,000 members, and which is advertising the RefRewards program on all of its members pages, and through the RefMaker newsletter. RefMaker also has a very busy forum, so this paid email co
uld take off pretty quickly. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ WHAT IS IT ABOUT THEN? Join for free. You must be at least 13 years old. Once you have signed up by filling in a short form, and validated your account by clicking on a link in an email you will be sent, you are able to receive emails and refer others. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ HOW MUCH CAN I EARN FROM READING EMAIL? As this program pays out in US dollars, here is a link to a currency converter: http://www.xe.com/ucc/ that I use all the time, and a quick conversion: 3c = 2p 10c = 6p $5 = £3.42 $14 = £9.58 $15 = £10.27 $25 = £17.12 at the time of writing (26th January 2001). You will get paid between 3c (2p) and 10c (6p)per email that you read, and there is a bonus of $5 (£3.42) for a member to be drawn at random from respondents to each email. This is why the RefRewards program advertises itself as paying up to $5 an email. I would expect the vast majority of emails to be of the 3c variety. At the moment there is no information as to the amount of emails you will receive, as they are to be targeted using the information you submitted on signing up. You will, however, be paid for the emails your referrals read, regardless of whether you have read that particular email yourself, so it should be possible to receive very few emails but get paid for a lot more that your referrals read. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ WHAT WAS IN THE FIRST EMAIL THEN? The first email arrived the day after I had signed up - and this is the first time I have been in any program this early. I had expected it to be some weeks before any email turned up, so I am impressed so far, although whether they can keep this up is unknown as yet. The sender was PAID EMAIL The subject line was
PAID EMAIL - You MUST READ I opened the email and it seems very similar in layout to net-4-biz's GPTREM emails. There is a short introduction to the advertiser, a link to click, and you are transported to the RefRewards site to confirm your password. Once you have entered your password and clicked the button to confirm your details, you are transported to the advertisers site. The first advertiser was Free Opportunity Magazine, based in the US, and only available to subscribers in the US and Canada - so much for targeted mail? This email was worth 3c. I closed the browser window with the advertisers site on and returned to the original email. To check your stats you can click on the link at the bottom of the email which says rather misleadingly that: To cancel your membership (and forfeit all money earned to date) Log into your member area at: http://www.refrewards.com/member_area/ You can click on that link - I did - and not have to worry that you will cancel your membership inadvertently - it just leads to the log in screen. After you have logged in using your ID and password you can click on links such as View earnings and View Referrals, which are updated in real time - I had my 3c in my earnings chart immediately! According to the bi-monthly newsletter, the first email had a response rate of over 75 percent, and of those respondents qualified to sign up for the free offer, 18 percent signed up. The advertiser is planning to use RefRewards again for more advertising. The second email, worth 4c, was sent to a group of 1000 members, of which I was one. Results for this email are not available as yet. The third email, worth 3c has been sent out, results not available yet. This one was for www.iwin.com, a very big games site, so it looks like they are attracting good clients. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ <
br> WHAT ABOUT THE REFERRAL SCHEME? You can benefit from three levels of referrals, these are called your downline: DIRECT REFERRALS The people you refer, whether by banner, email or from the bonus referrals that are allocated to Gold Members. LEVEL TWO REFERRALS These are the people that have been referred by your first level of referrals. LEVEL THREE REFERRALS These are the people referred by your level two referrals. Each time one of these referrals reads an email you receive 1c. Although this is a small amount, if you have a few referrals it will mount up. You can also earn 10 percent of any other earnings that any of your referrals make on the RefRewards site, and 7.5 percent of any money spent by advertisers you have referred. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ WHAT OTHER WAYS ARE THERE TO MAKE MONEY? RefRewards say that members will be able to earn money by participating in surveys, for which they will pay a minimum of 5c per survey question. This is pretty low for paid surveys compared to sites like the Brand Institute, but then many survey sites reward you by entering you into a draw. There have been no surveys so far. Other possibilities still in the research stage are a paid start up page, a paid to search program, and a shopping reward program. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ HOW MUCH DO I NEED FOR A PAYOUT? $15 (£10.27) if you use PayPal, and $25 (£17.12) if you request a cheque. At the moment all earnings will be paid out in US Dollars. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ WHAT IS GOLD MEMBERSHIP? For $15 (£10 as stated onsite), or $14 (£9.58) if you pay using PayPal, you become a Gold RefRewards member. This is a one-off payment, and the Gold membership entitles you to bonus referrals. Each time someone signs up without using anot
her members referral ID, they are allocated a Gold member as their referrer, or upline. This means that if you are a Gold member, you may get referrals without having to do the work yourself. You can also win $15 (£10.27), with two runner-up prizes of $5 (£3.42) each, for being the Gold member who gets the most direct referrals in a month. This competition starts up in February 2001. RefRewards claim that they will be adding more benefits to the Gold membership in the future, but as yet these are not specified. Some of the fees gained from the Gold memberships are to be used for purchasing advertising, and the rest will be used to fund the extra referral payments required because each member will have a referrer. Advertising will also be sought by exchanging web site advertising and newsletter advertising with other web sites. I signed up for a Gold membership to test the water. I paid using my PayPal account (basically a secure electronic money transfer site - more in a later opinion). Because I used PayPal rather than a credit card or cheque (which you can send to an address in the UK) I paid $14 instead of $15. Five days later I have have 13 direct referrals and 2 Level Two referrals, and jo1l who referred me (we have an agreement that she joins programs first, as I tend to get more referrals than her - that way we both benefit from multilevel referrals) has one direct referral (me), 13 Level Two referrals, and 2 Level Three referral. 11 of the 13 direct referrals are bonus referrals from the Gold membership. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ IS THE GOLD MEMBERSHIP WORTH IT? Only time will tell. As of 26th January 2001, the very first email has been sent, although the program was only launched in the RefMaker newletter on the 24th January 2001. On January 28th the second email was sent, and this one was worth 4c. On 3rd February the third email was sent, this time to a much bigger advertiser, www.iwin.com, which bodes well for RefRewards so far. I will update my opinion with referrals (or the lack of) as they come in. The email you receive notifying you of a new referral states whether the referral is a Gold bonus referral or one from your referral url, so I should be able to break down the figures to see if it is worth it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SO WHO IS BEHIND IT? RefRewards was founded by two key figures in the RefMaker Networks company, which is based in the US. Chris Shaw (Chief Executive Officer) is the founder of RefRewards, and the Assistant Director of Refmaker.com. He is based in the UK. Rick Hill (Chief Operations Officer) in charge of the operational side of RefRewards, and is based in the US. He is the Director of Refmaker.com. RefMaker.com is basically a program with two levels of membership, free and Gold (paid), which will give you a cloned web site to promote your get paid to surf, read email or whatever programs with. I have had a RefMaker site, but feel that they are ineffective because they all look the same, and are not particularly effective a garnering referrals, which is what they are supposed to do. When someone signs up using your site they are supposed to sign up to one of your programs, but there is nothing to actually make them do that. Whilst I do not subscribe to the effectiveness of the RefMaker sites, and have got many of my referrals using another web site, I think that the large user base and active forum associated with RefMaker will ensure a large user base for RefRewards, and thus an attractive proposition for advertisers. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ THE VERDICT Try it - it is free after all. And it may just attract enough advertisers to make it work. The real question is - can you
get enough referrals to ensure a payout this millenium? Now that I have received the first three emails so promptly, with the first arriving only one day after joining, and now that I have seen the stats pages working in real time for earnings and referrals, I will up the grade to four stars. If you would like to go direct to the site without using a referral link, it is at www.refrewards.com. If you would like to use me as your referrer, either email me or click on the link at the top of my profile. Advertisers may find this a very responsive means of getting leads, but they should probably bear in mind that many early adopters of RefRewards are already members of many paid to programs through their RefMaker sites. Advertising starts at $100 per 1000 email addresses, with RefRewards sending out the emails. Statistics are available for advertisers to follow their campaigns, and each paid email link is open for one week. At the rate of the first email, response would be 750+ click thrus for each 1000 emails sent, with a possible conversion of approxiamtely 18 percent of those qualified for the advertisers services. This conversion rate should also be regarded as high because the email in question was for a free program.
