I was perusing the many internet categories no one has written about and found one that vaguely interested me so looked at it and have written a review.

The site is www.riceweb.org .

This site opens to a white home page which gives you some information written in English. It tells you this site was launched in Sept 2002. This is a rice knowledge bank about rice research, it is the world’s repository on rice knowledge how to grow and take care of rice crops about the best way to manage a crop. There is quite a bit about the history of rice growing too .

The home page the opportunities of going to any of 13 countries knowledge banks just click on the map of the country you wish to visit and you will find out lots of relevant information about rice growing inn that country. The pests the diseases the types of rice, how to grow organically. The language in this area is the one of the country.

The site map tells you can visit pages about how to grow rice, extension methods, training materials, and research materials

There are fact sheets on how to grow rice. I notice one about growing organic rice you need adobe reader to access these there are sheets about land preparation, pest control harvesting and post harvesting everything I would need to know if I was going to turn my back garden into a rice field. This site might actually be useful to an agricultural student or someone doing a project about rice
This site runs several on line courses one Biological Control of Rice Insect Pests another on rice grain quality.

There are other resources on this site too. A recipe page, health and nutrition facts. There are links to other sites one the site about Rice & World Rice Statistics. This gives info on rice world wide.

This site is really aimed at rice growers. I think it might be useful to you if you were doing a project about rice.

I would not have visited this site if I had not been looking for a category no one else had written in I found it fairly interesting easy to understand and easy to navigate.

I hope this review was of some interest to you, I must admit I know a bit more about rice than before I looked at this site .
So will I turn my garden into a paddy field now ?
