Advantages: Its FREE! And very easy to use. And makes a ladder competition more fun.
Disadvantages: NONE
Ropey Ladder is a free website to help your sports club run a ladder competition. It does all the work for you so you just need to get all the people who want to take part, to register on the website. Judging by which sports the site is designed for I think it must be American but of course it makes no difference to how the ladder is set up or how the ladder works. The sports you can set a ladder up for are: Badminton, Foosball, Golf, Pool, Racket Ball, Squash, Table Tennis, Tennis.
Registering is quick and simple as you just need to enter your contact details and choose your login/password. Its obviously important to register your contact details so that other players can get in contact with you to make a challenge!
One person has to take the lead and actually set the ladder up (again, nothing could be simpler), but after that there is no administration involved. Setting up the ladder requires the person to select various options depending on the type of sport that its for;
You can set the number of free challenges (allows you to challenge anyone above you regardless of how many places they are above you)
The number of places above you that you can challenge
Min. number of games/sets that must be played
etc etc
The Free challenge rule is great as it allows for people to find their level in the league a lot quicker.
Once you have setup the league, you can transfer the ownership of it. So if you leave the club or want to let someone else take ownership then its very easy to do.
Once there are players registered, then you can challenge other players by clicking on the icon next to their name. They will then be sent an email which they can then go on the site and accept or refuse the challenge.
The result of the matches must then be entered onto the site and the site re-arranges the ladder if necessary depending on the result. Results are displayed on the site and the ladder can also be printed at any stage.
To add a bit of fun you can write a profile about yourself and even add a picture.
The site must earn their money from advertising, but there are hardly any on there and does not ruin the site in anyway. If you are part of a sports club and already run a ladder or want to start one, then I would recommend using this site as it does everything for you and its much more fun for everyone, plus its FREE FREE FREE!!
Summary: Brilliant website that allows sports club run their own ladder. Takes away all the hassle.
