Any true film addict will always be on the lookout for a truly decent site for reference, news and more.
www.rottentomatoes.com not only offers up to the minute information but a lot, lot more, a strange name however and not to be mixed up with the other rotten site that certainly is not worth viewing.

Although this Site is US based, this does not really matter as we still get the same films as them so it is still invaluable.

All the reviews and news you will find on site are not their own but from a vast amount of sources, such as newspapers, magazines, television etc.

This ensures that you don’t miss a thing and guarantees you the best news and reviews all under one roof.

On loading the site you will see it is unusual, green mainly with some red, hence the tomato theme which you will see as you read on plays a key role in it’s individuality.

Each film or review you come across under any section, including the new releases will have a rating next to it, in the form of a tomato. Yes that’s right. A fresh tomato means it’s good and a rotten tomato means give it a miss, this is not based on a single review but on overall percentage, which you can also view thanks to the sites own Tomatometer which measures the ratings.

~*~ The Homepage~*~

The Home page is very good overall and extremely easy to navigate, it looks good and you can find what you want at the click of a link, all of which are clearly displayed.

~*~ Box Office~*~

This lists the current top sellers in the US, currently 1.Training Day, 2.Bandits and already these have a Tom rating and also reviews, so you can see at a glance how good the new ones are.

~*~ Opening~*~

A comprehensive list of all the forthcoming films, theatre, box office and multimedia, this is excellent, and for example opening Oct 19th – From Hell, starring Jonhhy Depp and Heather Gra
ham, again already reviewed and this film sounds great.

~*~ Multimedia ~*~

Here you will find a huge selection in A-Z format of photo’s and flipbooks.
Plus if you fancy previewing that new film in the comfort of your own home then you can do that from a list of available titles.

~*~ New Video/DVD & Rentals ~*~

The rental section not being much use for the UK, however the database of titles is an astonishing 87,000 titles and 170,000 reviews to accompany them, so whatever your looking for the chances are you will find it here.

~*~ Recommendations~*~

Are you stuck for inspiration as to what film to get out, well go no further than this section, you simply select your chosen genre and it will offer you a selection of reviews to match your criteria.
All the films recommended have scored over 70% on the Tomato meter, so you can be sure they are well worth viewing.
The Tomato picker on this page also allows you to customize this search facility, you can select a film either by genre, sub genre, Tomato rating, Era and decade or by video format, this is again a superb feature and is simple enough, all done by a drop down menu.
I found it extremely accurate and effective and found titles with ease and films of interest, and again lots of reviews accompany them all.

~*~ Celebs~*~

Here just for you is the low down on the hottest film stars around, filmography included, simply select your chosen actor/actress from pull down menu and you are presented not only with facts on the person but also a list of every film they have appeared in, you can either view their films history by T.Ratings or by date at the click of your mouse., fascinating to see them all listed like this and again invaluable for reference purposes.

Also included under this category is the Most photogenic Celebrities, and a surprise number one winner is *The Beatles! *

~*~ News ~*~

Centre front page is the news here you will find all the latest film shockers and gossip, plus awards and more general film industry news, and you can rely on this being an excellent source as it is updated daily so you can read it all here first. Plus various links to other relevant sites added here too.

~*~ Hot Topics~*~

Got something to say, well here’s your chance, various open discussions listed here for you to add your pennyworths, plus polls.

~*~ Critics ~*~

Here you get a clickable link for every person who reviews on site, so if you have preferences and trust certain reviewers choices more than others this is ideal, by clicking on their name it brings up all the film titles that they have done, to save you searching.

~*~ Shop ~*~

Again more US orientated but they will ship to the UK, but with most sites this adds a large amount on top, prices vary for shipping but expect about $12-20 added for one item.
However there is a fantastic range of goodies for the film buff here, soundtracks, posters, film books and merchandise, adaptations and more, then to the more normal goods such as TV’s and video’s etc.

~*~ Games ~*~

Bored with film hunting then why not try your hand at the sites games section, some super ones here to test your brain and wits, there own minesweeper and shape Tetris to name two, and more links to find the cheapest games to buy online.

Well that basically covers everything on the site; I find it an irreplaceable site for reference such as dates of films and cast members etc.
The site is extremely user friendly and do not be put off with the Tomato carry on, it’s not childish or silly at all but serves it’s purpose excellently.

It is so simple to get around and find exactly what your looking for, even the home page has a smaller search included, simply type in the actor/actress name and it will inst
antly provide you with any relevant films and reviews etc that are on site.

I should also say that speed is another plus too, no slow loading pages here, very speedy and efficient all round.

Certainly a thumbs up this one, and I think the Tomato idea was very clever and extremely successful in giving Rottentomatoes.com that certain something to make it stand out from the others, after all its rare to find a site that not only looks good, works well but has everything you need all under one page.

I recommend you pay a visit and think you will find it impressive too.
