I am always looking into new ways to make money and have joined endless sites where you can cash in on your shopping. I always get cash back on my purchases and sign up to any free sites offered. However I have never signed up for any of those free trials where you have to give you credit card details because I am always a bit wary but its my boyfriends birthday and am doing every little thing to scrape some cash together so I have even started using my card to get cash back. That is when I can across Screen Select it is featured on most money back websites and if you sign up for a free trial you get in the region of £7 cash back which I thought was excellent and I am sure after you have read this review you will realise why it is such a good offer.

WELCOME TO SCREEN SELECT
This is one of the biggest and probably one of the best in my opinion of rental DVD sites.
They stock 51,000 DVDs and operate by sending out a DVD of your choice 1st class in a small envelope and then once you have watched it you send it back in the freepost envelope and your next choice is despatched the same day they receive the DVD you have just watched back. There are expiry dates you can keep the DVD for as long as you want not like your local blockbusters where you have to return your DVD in a couple of days.

SO WHY IS IT SO ATTRACTIVE?
The main thing that attracted me to this website is its ease of use and the free trial. You have to provide you names, address and card details for security at the start of the process and that it is your away.
You have to select 10 DVD's that you would like to watch into a selection list you can then select a number between 1 and 3 as to what order you would like your DVDs, not that they always stick to this it all depends on what is in stock and can sometimes mean you getting the second film before the first like I received the ring 2 and then the ring which is a little confusing but when you haven't seen either I suppose it doesn't matter too much.
The free trial entitles you to 5 free DVD titles within a 21 day period which ever comes first and you aren't charged a penny believe me I have tried it twice!
At first I was a little dubious because I got scared and thought maybe it would say they will process the cancellation and it would go on too long and I would get charged but they cancel your subscription as soon as you hit the cancel button providing you don't have any outstanding DVDs if you do then the cancellation will be confirmed as soon as they receive the DVD.


HOW DO I FIND THE DVD I WANT?
If you know what DVD you want then life is simple you just type the title or main actor into the find box and it will show you the DVD you want. If you are struggling to find films to put on your list and not sure what you fancy you can have a look on the front page where it shows you some of the popular choices and new releases. Under the title it also gives you a quick taster for what the film is like and you can usually make a quick choice from that or from a rating or a review.
However if you know what you are into but not sure what films are about you can click on the sub heading under GENRE where you will find the headings like comedy, family, horror, drama, romance etc. You can also search under COLLECTION, which has headings such as 100 hot hits, 100 scary movies, 100 TV greats, 100 cops and robbers etc. All the films are usually put in an order, which have been most viewed or highly rated so it really gives you a helping hand in what to choose.



LIFE AFTER FREEBIES
Once your free trial is up your account will go live and you will be charged monthly. The fees aren't too bad and if I had the money I would join one this site for real but I just don't have the money so have to live off free trials and obviously you can only have one free trial but it doesn't say anything about not being able to sign you boyfriendand your gran up. Only one application is allowed per person per household so if your cheeky like me you can sign up your relatives and just collect the DVDs.
Most people think the service is that good and don't bother cancelling and that's how they make their money and for those who are daft enough to forget when to cancel believe me it happens.
If you want to subscribe for real it is really good value because if you notice Blockbusters has gone very expensive and they don't deliver your DVDs to your home and come and collect them after.
If you are a movie addict I would definitely recommend this site
£5.99 will get you 2 DVDs a month and you can keep them both for the month.
£7.99 will get you 4 DVDs a month and you can keep one at home while the send you another.
£9.99 will get you 5 DVDs a month and you can keep 2 at home before they send your next selection out.
£12.49 you can keep 2 DVDs at home while they send your next selection out this choice gives you unlimited DVDs per month.
£14.99 gives you unlimited DVDs per month and you can keep 3 at home all at once.

You can cancel your subscription when ever you wish but you have to remember if you cancel in the middle of the month you will still get charged till the end so you may as well get DVDs until the end. As soon as you cancel you do not get any more DVDs.

If you cancel your free trial and want to join afterwards you don't have to sign up again you just log back in with your email address and password and it will show account cancelled and there is an area you can click on which re starts your account so you don't have to go through all the hassle of signing up again.


UNDERSTANDING THE WEBSITE
The main area you will use is the My selection page which is where all your selections have been kept and this is probably one of the most useful areas it shows you what DVDs you have at home and when they where shipped. You then have a list that can be amended whenever you wish showing all the DVDs you would like to receive. If you don't have a DVD at home it will show you the next DVD they are sending to you.
There is also a box of recommendations based on what you have already chosen of DVDs out and ones that are soon to be released which you can also add to your list and they are despatched as soon as they are released.

If there is a DVD you want to watch and it isn't on the list you can tell screen select who will then do their best to get hold of it and you will be the first to rent it, which is nice.
Screen Select are very good at customer service and reply to your emails within about 4 hours and have a free phone helpline.

Rating and feedback is very important to Screen Select and they ask that whenever you watch a DVD you rate it out of 5 starts which is very simple and pain free after you have seen it you just click which star you think it deserves. This is really good for when you want to rent a DVD as well as you can tell what the general feeling is about the film before you rent it. There is also a box on the main site asking you to rate the main site which I did once I ticked the 1 when I was really mad that the DVD didn't work and they emailed me straight away asking why I was so dis satisfied which I thought was very good of them.
There is also the option to write a review on the DVDs but I am not good at writing film reviews so I haven't bothered as I always give too much away and people get mad!


RECOMMENDING A FRIEND
This is something that is very worth doing if you ware a full member all you need to do is complete a form with your name and email address on and your friend name and email address and they are offered a free trial worth 6 DVDs and then you receive £20 credited to your account. So if you recommend 2 friends you get over 6 months free rentals, which is excellent. Screen Select are good for offering freebies and that is why I like them.


GIFT SUBSCRIPTIONS
If you are lucky enough to have someone who loves you very much and wants to get you a subscription as a gift they can do but they are only based on getting one DVD a month, which I think is quite expensive as you can see

WHAT HAPPENS IF THE DVD DOESN'T TURN UP?
This is what always worries me because I think I'll be stuck paying for the DVD that I haven't got and it is quite obvious what is in the envelope so if you have a bit of a light fingered postie then you need not worry. Screen select have a good procedure in place because I bet things like that happen all the time. Once 4 days have elapsed you need to contact Screen select who then send you a replacement straight away. If it happen to you or in your area quite a lot then they have the right to suspend your account until the matter has been cleared up this is understandable but not very fair if you do not have a very honest postman.


WHAT HAPPENED IF YOU GET A DVD THAT DOESN'T WORK?
I can tell you this from first hand experience I received oceans twelve on the Wednesday and waited until Sunday afternoon which is the best time for me to watch DVDs and to my utter disappointment the DVD just wouldn't work it was horrible as I had waited so long to watch it I felt really let down. I marched straight down to my pc to let them know and there was a simple report button which was very handy I ticked the right boxes and was advised to send the DVD straight back and it would be checked they also despatched my next DVD out straight away so I received it the very next day which I thought was very nice of them as you aren't usually allowed another DVD until they receive your last one. I didn't get a longer free trial or anything back only an apology.


OVERALL OPINION
In an ideal world I would love to subscribe to Screen Select fully but I just cant afford it at the minute when my families birthdays die down I may join full term because I think it is a really good value for money and its very convenient and quick. If you cannot wait to receive your film you wont be disappointed as you get it usually within 24 hours.
