Advantages: Free to download and use on iPhone

Disadvantages: 50p a track if you are using a standard mobile

Shazam is great! Basically, its a music recognition device that you can use to identify tunes you hear playing but are unsure what they are.

There are two ways to get the 'Shazam Experience' - there is a number you dial, which is 2580 and a voice tells you to hold your phone towards the music, it will then 'listen' for 15 seconds and text you the name of the song. I used to use this 'back in the day' but to be honest, I think it is rather expensive (around 12p for the call, and 50p for each text you use). It is also available to use on Blackberry and costs £5 initally, you can then use the application as many times as you want.

I however, have an iPhone and fortunatly it is free to download and use as many times as you like.
You simply need to go to the applications store and search 'shazam', you can then download it for free and the Shazam Icon appears on your iphone screen. When you are out and about you simply tap the icon, and hold your phone towards the music (please note that it doesnt need to be directly beside the source of the music, I have used it while out shopping in the West End and its been fine) and it will then bring up a library of 'Tagged' tunes (songs you have requested details on) and will give you the song title, artist, album and even link you to itunes so you can buy and youtube so you can look at the music video!

I love this application on iphone - it really is great in that everytime you hear a song you like, you dont wreck your brains for days wondering what it was. Download it today if you have an iPhone, otherwise, remember that 2580 is straight down the middle of your mobiles keypad!

Good Luck!

Summary: I'd be lost without this now....

Personally I would ensure my facts are correct if I am reviewing a website. you say in your second paragraph "I think it is 2580" but it might be better to be more clear about this as this would cost people money if they used the service and it would make more sense to say with clarity "the number is 2580" :)
