Advantages: Easy to use, good information, great videos and pictures
Disadvantages: Some crazy fans on the forum
Sherdog.com is a MMA website (MMA stands for mixed martial arts) and this site compliments the sport very well and has got some great features and gives a great insight into the sport for those who are new to the world of MMA. It covers all major organisations as well at the more local ones which is a great addition to show you what fighters are making a breakthrough in the sport and who to look out for.
It has a great news section with all the big stories, and some fantastic articles written by very knowledgeable people. The interview section is also a great addition and gives pre and post fight interviews with all the top fighters. They also have a radio show with weekly wrap-ups and the latest news. My personal favourite feature on this site is the statistics page which offers a fight-finder section where you can enter any fighter's name and get all their latest details and their results, as well as for the bigger names some fantastic photos of them in and out of the ring.
As with many websites of this kind there is a very busy forum with some very strange people on it all of whom are offering their own opinions on the latest subjects. I would definitely not join up to this forum if you are new to the sport as some of the people on there will jump on the slightest thing and make you write about it if it offends their organisation or favourite fighter. There is not only forums for MMA but also for Boxing and Kickboxing as well as an ask the fighters section which could be really useful if you are looking to train and compete yourself. On that subject matter there is a great training discussion area where you can discuss techniques, strength and power training and what supplements you should be taking to get in peak condition.
There is also a store section where you can buy all the latest gear including wear from the label Tapout which is the top name in the sport - let me warn you though these t-shirts and stuff do not come cheap at all. On the home page of the website there is a videos section where you can downloads some of the latest fights and also listen to some of the past radio show which are well worth a listen. Underneath that you can find a section for upcoming events as well as recent events with a full rundown of the results.
Overall I would recommend this site to anyone who is already a fan of the sport and would advise you to head straight to the forum for some very in depth discussions and the latest news. For any newcomers steer clear of the forum and head for the videos and radio section and see if this sport is worth giving a go.
Summary: As they say in battle LET'S GET IT ON!
