Advantages: Great Way To Kill Time Doing Something Enjoyable

Disadvantages: Scoring System Is Weird, Some Music Really Isn't Music

I use this site for leisure and killing the odd half hour when I'm waiting for something, such as if I have half an hour before I have to head out the door. If you like unsigned music, then it's a great place to kill time and get rewarded for it too. I can only really review it from the point of a music scout, and not an unsigned band as sadly I'm talentless and tone deaf when coming to playing a musical instrument.

One benefit is that its easy to find your way around, and it splits in into three sub categories: bands looking to be signed up, people looking to invest in music, and people looking to review music.

I generally go to the scouting section. It's a good way to kill time just by going into the room and you're met with a random song that's given to you based on the musical interests that you specify at the time of joining, and you can amend when you like. You start writing your review aftewr listening to the first sixty seconds and then when you're done, you score the song from one to ten. You have an overall rating through your career as a scout and this is based on how close you are with the majority of people who are also rating the song.

Another benefit is that it pays you for doing this. This gets amended over time but it's not a great deal. For example I'm on two start and I get paid 5p per track that I review, and with time as I get more experienced this will rise up to 10p as I get a five star rating. It's a nice way to get paid for doing something that you enjoy doing.

Also it pays you via PayPal which is a simple and straightforward method. You need to acrue £5 which can take some time but it puts it in there fairly quickly and it's nice to get rewarded for the enjoyable work that you do.

There is some disadvantages. I cannot work out the ratings for the life of me and for no reason whatsoever you can find yourself dropping down to one star and having to work back again when you've done nothing obvious to do this. It just makes progressing that little bit harder and when you don't know where you've gone wrong, I find it very hard to correct myself.

Also, the rewarding changes sporadically, it used to be a lot more financially pleasant to review, but over time I imagine it's been harder to justify the rewarding but it can make it longer before reaping the rewards if you're reviewing solely for the sake of a financial reward.

Also, some of the stuff you listen to is terrible and wouldn't even fall into any genre of music and really is a mish-mash of atrocious music. You can be sitting there to a sixteen minute song that makes no sense at all with your ears about to bleed wondering how on earth it made it through any kind of vetting process.

But overall thoughm it's good, and a great way to kill some time doing something that's enjoyable, and is helping unsigned bands and artists improve themselves and making a difference.

Summary: Great To Spend Some Free Time On
