Advantages: free, loads to choose from, can try listening to things you may not normally

Disadvantages: can't download (but wouldn't expect to for free anyway!)

I discovered Spotify.com a few weeks ago and I can honestly say that it is probably the first place I go to now if i want to listen to music.
I don't own a CD player anymore - just have all my music on my computer and Ipod and also transferred to my X-box so i can play it through my TV. If I want to listen to an actual CD i put it in my DVD player or computer.
Spotify has now meant I don't need to even bother finding a CD i want to listen to and putting it in the computer!

Spotify.com is basically an application that you download and you can then listen to streamed music of a huge variety completely free! All you have to do is listen to an advert every 20 minutes or so - which really doesn't cause any bother and is a lot better than listening to all the adverts and talking on the radio. You can also upgrade and pay for access which stops you having to listen to the adverts.

There are so many albums on there and different types of music. I'm currently listening to the New Kids On the Block albumns from the 1990's! I only have these on tape so to rediscover them in digital format and for free is great!

You cannot download anything from Spotify.com but there is nothing to stop you playing the same song or albumn again and again.

The interface is very like Itunes in my opinion. You can click on the top songs that people are listening to which at the moment is things like Lady Gaga, Flo Rider and Beyonce.

There are some things you will search for that aren't there for whatever reason and I have found that the songs that are currently in the charts are not likely to be there as often. I have found many Calvin Harris songs for example, but his new one I'm not alone - is not there. Fair enough really otherwise people would never bother downloading or buying songs ever again!

I have told my dad about this site and he is having great fun looking up old songs from the 1950's and 60's. I'm hoping it will stop him spending about £15 a month renting CD's from the library!! He is a pensioner so needs to start acting like one!! :-)

You can create playlists so it is easy to find songs you have been listening to and just play them again. It also saves your most recent searches.

It is great for finding new music and then if you really like it you might as well pay for the real thing on a different site to download to your Ipod etc. At the moment i'm discovering Bachata and Reggaeton - but am glad I have the option to listen to songs all the way through to know if i really like them rather than buying a compilation album or something and not really knowing what you are getting.

Next thing that would be great on this is if they could stream the music video's too but not sure if that will ever happen!
