“ Late booking cheap holidays. „
I'm in a dispute with Sunmaster right now. I booked a 3-week holiday for myself, then thought I may be better in a smaller resort. I contacted the company and they have only 1 person who deals with amendments. He told me it would cost £100 amendment fee plus any difference in the accommodation price. I didn't do anything about changing then, but after I was on the phone with them so long trying to book a holiday for my friend that I rang another company, Travel Republic, and booked a holiday for my friend in the same resort but at a different hotel and also for half-board. So, having been told that it would cost £100 amendment fee, I was prepared to pay that and the extra accommodation cost to book in at the same hotel as I'd booked for my friend, so rang Sunmaster, and what a fuss to get the 1 person to call me back, but he did call me later on......hope you're sitting down for this folks....So explained that I'd booked my friend in at a different hotel and could I change my accommodation to the same as hers please......the difference was £633 !!! I almost fell over. Flight and transfer were the same, just an accommodation change - but not only would I have to pay that, I would also still have to pay for my original holiday! so, in all, well over £1000 !! I told them that I'd just booked for my friend for that accommodation and her transfer and her flight for £573 with Travel Republic but he said that was the price. I asked about cancelling and he said I'd lose all (over £300) what I'd paid. So, I was left with my friend being in a different hotel, so decided to ring Travel Republic to see if I could change my friend to the same hotel as me. It took a while as everything had to be changed by hand, but TRAVEL REPUBLIC DID THAT FOR ME FOR.......ZERO COST, AND AS IT WAS A CHEAPER HOTEL, OVER A £100 REFUND TOO!!!!! I couldn't believe the difference, not only in cost but in attitude. Wish I'd booked with them in the first place and Sunmaster........I'm waiting to hear back from them but not expecting too much. Needless to say, NEVER AGAIN Sunmaster
Too good to be true. Like many others I saw the Sunmaster website. Good, very good in fact, and the prices...... One good flight, one not so convenient, but they have to sell those inconvenient flights, and that's one way to do it. That's fair enough. Hotels and transfers so easily selected.....and the prices so reasonable. Checkout; the usual pages of personal and credit card data. Submit and wait for the cnfirmation. Then the phonecall, so chatty and interested. The accommodation price has doubled, the flight has gone up £20. So we'll reduce your luggage, change your airport, find you another hotel Can I live out of just my han- luggage? Still a couple of hundred pounds over budget but frankly that's the best your're going to get. I cancelled and at that point would recomend others to do likewise. I wonder if the airlines or the hotel owners are aware that their services are advertised at one price and sold at another. I will write to ATOL or ABTA just to flag it. Have a great holiday
Like one of the other reviews, we arrived in Crete at 10.30 on a Saturday evening in September, only to find that the hotel did not have any record of our booking. Despite the address being on the hotel accommodation voucher, we tried to contact Triton who advised us to find out own accommodation.m. The following morning we were told that our hotel was 148 km away on the other side of the island ad certainly not the resort we had booked.Costs over 200 euros, 2 days wasted in inconvenience. 28 days down the line no response top our complaint other than we may have to wait up to 56 days. BEWARE THIS COMPANY IS NOT ABTA REGISTERED ...DONT BOOK........!!!!!!!!!!!
Booked a weeks holiday to turkey with sunmasters .on arrival at the hotel we were informed that the hotel had no booking for us ,the accommodation voucher supplied by sunmasters was not recognised by the hotel. The whole booking with sunmasters was a shambles. This ruined the start of our holiday and as of yet I'm still trying to get an explanation from sunmasters . STAY WELL CLEAR
My advice is to stay well clear and go to one of the other companies! I have just booked with Sunmaster and just got dragged along by an extremely helpful sales rep.....well, surely he was just trying to save me money because he was just SO helpful and friendly - even offering me alternative airports to fly from as they were cheaper!!! Forget it! I knew the details of where I wanted to take my 2 adult children and grandchild and had checked out prices with First Choice etc and then I came across Sunmaster.co.uk and it seemed that I could save a few hundred pounds. I was told that the free child place that was showing when I booked was not applicable etc etc. and that on top of this of course I had to pay the baggage charged by the airline - it ended up as being approx £400 more than the original price shown. I then changed from the 2 rooms I had originally been quoted for to just the 1 in order to get the price back to my budget - not ideal! I am ashamed to say that I just got swept along by the oh so helpful and very skilled rep! I paid over my money and later checked out the First choice holiday - I could have saved myself nearly £300 had I just not bothered with Sunmaster.co.uk. I feel cheated but it is my own fault by being so gullible! BE WARNED. I WILL NEVER EVER BOOK WITH SUNMASTER.CO.UK AGAIN! EVER!
I book with sunmaster for lanzarote and on there flight itinerary it said beat the queues check in online 18 days before departure I tried you cant so tried phoning forget that as always busy they say they have a fault with there phone lines this has been like it for two weeks. sent a email and they say I can not book in online only if I was to book direct with the airline so why do they send out paper work saying you can. over all VERY BAD WEB SITE AND VERY BAD CUSTOMER SEVICCE
I booked my holidays to Turkey online and price was GBP 353.00 but then an agent rang and of a sudden price was GBP 456.00 . The agent was mumbling something about luggage expenses and flight price was not correct on the website and many other excuses. There were some problems with payment also, website did not work properly, I sent an email to sunmaster .co.uk and also did no get any reply. I must say very bad service.

Ive just booked a holiday with sunmaster for December in tenerife.Unlike most of the people on here i looked at the price it gave me on line .then i rang them simple ..Yes the price was different to online but the prices on line are from close of buisness the previous day..I would never be stupid enough to book a holiday without ringing the company first for a whole manner of things .Why i carried on with the booking was the price they quoted was still a lot cheaper than the major operators..Trick for you people is trust no one and ring the company .You think sunmaster is bad try booking online with a company that dont even offer a phone number...........Thanks and see you all in Tenerife in Dec 24dg lovely jubbly
Having read other reports I can also confirm that Sunmaster tried hiking the price of my holiday up by £250.00 from what I had already agreed to on their website. One guy claimed it was due to the hotels prices going up overnight and two hours later, a girl called to say that the increase was due to the flight prices increasing. Both of which were nonsense. So, stay away fromn Sunmaster if you don't want to waste any time and try lowcost holidays instead. These guys were very good and and you pay what its says on their website. No hidden extras.
This was mine and my 2 children's first ever holiday abroad, we booked 7 nights in Majorca at the playamar hotel in s'illot. We departed on the Thursday 30th of august and was booked to return on Thursday the 6 of September . On the Wednesday morning the cleaners came to our room and told us we had to be out our r.oom by 12 noon . I went to reception to check the date s the clean was right the hotel had us down for checking out on the 5th . I was mortified our flight wasn't untill Thursday evening at 19:55. I tried contacting sunmasters from the hotel , all numbers would not connect. I asked the hotel if I would pay for an extra night ,but they was full . They helped me and found me a room in another hotel for 30 Euro and it was horrid its was dirty and smelly my children cried they did not want to stay but we had no choice. I ve sent 3 emails to sunmasters they replied to they first saying they was sorry about our experience but they was in the right and I was wrong I ve had no more replies . i tried to book my holiday today and in the ten minutes from me booking and them calling to confirm the details it had magically gone up £100. i was then told i was not allowed to cancel it and instead could switch to a different hotel. they nearly had me believing i really couldnt cancel even though i hadnt agreed to that price. but instead i called back to complain and told them there was absolutely no way i was paying extra and that none of the other hotels were suitable. i dont know if it was due to my stubborness or them hearing my dad in the background telling me to ring watchdog but suddenly i did have the option to cancel. i'll make sure to tell my friends to avoid sunmaster
dont believe the online price it doesnt exist thats just to get you thinking youre getting a good deal i fell for it and stupidly ended up paying £200 more.please avoid this company at all costs.compare these with the more reliable and supposedly dearer companys and you will find out there not cheap at all.
I too have suffered as a result of Sunmaster having booked a holiday in Agios Sostis, Zakynthos through them. I have never stopped in such a squalid hotel and have never encountered such an unprofessional approach to dealing with customer complaints. I left the hotel after two nights with no sleep and to date have not received a refund. I would avoid Sunmaster like the plague as they clearly have no knowledge of the accommodation that they use. Arkadianos Apartments... I chose this accommodation as it was in the quiet resort of Agios Sostis. I was there to attend my friend's wedding. Agios Sostis itself is beautiful. Don't let your holiday there be ruined by staying in this place. The accommodation was dirty, loud and the manager was unbelievably rude. I left after two nights to move to alternative accommodation. The first issue was finding a member of staff in order to check in, this took 5 hours of waiting in reception. When a member of staff eventually showed up, they denied that they were the Turtle Beach Studios as stated in my booking. Eventually they agreed that they did used to be known as Turtle Beach Studios (Previous complaints perhaps?). They are now known as Arkandianos Studios/Apartments. The first room I was taken to had a couple sleeping in it! The 2nd room I was then taken to was dirty and had a pair of pants (also dirty) hanging in the bathroom. Air conditioning was 7 euros extra per night which I had not been informed of. The best was still to come..outside my bedroom window was a bar area. Despite around only ten guests being present in the bar they played extremely loud house music until 6am each morning, after this the guests played on their guitars until 7am. Again I could find no members of staff who were willing to help me with the unbelievable noise keeping me awake. On my second morning in the hotel I eventually found the manager to speak to. I informed her of the problem with the noise in my room and requested to be moved to another room at the back of the building as I had had 1 hours sleep in two nights. Her response was unbelievable: 'You are making problems for me, I am very tired'. Clearly she had been up partying until 7am too. She then took it upon herself to suggest that the reason I was unhappy in the hotel was that the other guests were Serbian and I was English, essentially suggesting that I was a racist! I refuted this. I explained again that I was in the quiet town of Agios Sostis for a wedding and that my friends were all stopping nearby. Despite me explaining this she offered me a room in a hotel in Laganas, the loud party town on the island half an hour away from my friends. Eventually she suggested that I come back in 6 HOURS to see if another room could be found for me! During this time I found alternative accommodation that was clean, quiet, friendly and half the price (Nimar Studios, Agios Sostis). I was however, furious about my first two nights on the island which had ruined the first two days of my holiday. I slept for the third day of my holiday due to exhaustion. When I returned to hand over my room key to the manager and informed her that I would be leaving her response was 'okay'. I don't understand how she runs her business in this way, she could not have cared less. Strange woman. I suggest that if you want a loud party atmosphere then make the short journey to Laganas. Arkadianos seems totally out of place in a quiet resort like Agios Sostis, which has relatively little in the way of nightlife. Oh and if you are stupid enough to book through Sunmaster...don't bother complaining...They don't give a damn about their customers once they have their money.
Hi I also got stung by this so called holiday company and like other reviews have said there is nothing you can do about it at all! This is how my situation went:- On Sunday 7th August 2011 I booked a Holiday via their website to get away for a break whilst I am on a break from my Chemotherapy treatment. we booked to Sol Parque San Antonio Hotel in Puerto del cruz for 10 nights,from 16th to 26th August 2011. Later that day Jenny called me back to run through my booking, during this conversation Jenny informed me there was no room on the flight back on the 26th, so would I consider changing location. I agreed and she recomended a few popular hotels in Playa de las Americas, after agreeing on a hotel (Villa Adeje Beach Hotel) we proceeded with the booking. This is where I should have been able to trust the company for pricing etc. However I was given a price of £2650 which I stupidly agreed to and booked. They then took payment ASAP and all was ok. Instantly as I put the phone down I excitedly wanted to look at our new holiday, to my horror I discovered it was £300 cheaper on their website! I tried to phone 3 or 4 times but got different stories each time like the website doesnt update on weekends and yes Jenny will phone you back! But Jenny never did despite all the messages and leaving mobile numbers. The more suprising thing was she has booked us onto the same flight to return home that was supposedly fully booked?!! Later on the same day my wife rang to book the same holiday under a different name and was told it was available and suprise suprise it was £2350 with nothing else to pay on top!?? Upon ringing again We got told to wait until the following day and it would all be sorted out, however after 3 calls and 3 heated arguements we was told it was my fault for agreeing the price and they had it recorded! I do agree I was stupid to agree but like I have said you should be able to trust the company to some extent. I still can not complain to them as they have a complaints procedure that requires a Ref. number that I havent got yet until this evening. somepeople have said they are just the middle men which does make sense as why else cant i have a ref number until tonight? It is because they havent fully booked the trip which means i should be able to get a refund or get this mess sorted but they point blank refuse! DO NOT USE THIS POOR EXCUSE FOR A TRAVEL COMPANY!
