I discovered The Burglars Dog when I was introduced to the book of the same name by my boyfriend. As he worked in the pub and bar industry he would tell me how upset/angry his bosses would be at a bad review from this site. When I moved to an office job and had a bit more time on the internet I discovered the website.

As a Geordie living in London anything which reminds me of home is great and this has become one of my lunchtime browsing favourites. Often I sit with tears streaming down my face at the hilarity of the reviews.

The Burglars Dog is (was!) essentially a site which reviews bars and clubs in Newcastle. Each month a new bar was selected as favourite, and one as the worst bar and these reviews were archived on the site so you could serahc for your favourite bar on the site. The reviews are less than serious and utterly hilarious. The guy who writes it is very much not a fan of new bars with themes or ridiculous names. You get the feeling he would prefer a decent pint and a seat than half nakes girls with bunny ears and fancy cocktails. I can't explain the dry sense of humour, but if you're from Newcastle you will understand it.

The language isn't what you would want your granny to read, and it's probably not as funny to non northerners, but check out the Burglar's Dog and have yourself a Geordie giggle to cheer up your day.

(unfortunately there are to be no new reviews but all the old ones are still there and still lots of fun to read)
