Advantages: Entertaining, regularly updated to keep the humour current.

Disadvantages: Not for everyone, those who are easilly offended should look elsewhere.

If you have a few spare minutes to kill and are looking for a quick laugh online you could do far wore than giving The Daily Mash a visit. This satirical site takes the form of a spoof tabloid newspaper, and contains stories loosely based on real news. Recent examples of real life news given the "Mash Treatment" include the Swine Flu pandemic, and the expenses scandel in British Politics. The site reminds me a little of the spoof news show from a few years back "The Day Today", but being in the form of an online newspaper rather than a TV news program.

The Daily Mash does not just lampoon news stories, sport and entertainment also get good coverage, with Newcastle United's controversial yellow away kit being described as looking like "a boiled sweet made from urine". There is a problem page with a difference, with the supposed replies written by a primary school child, and a hilarious travel log of a "gap year" student describing every place visited as "The Greatest City in the World"

The humour on the site is far from politically correct, and some of the content may offend the thin skinned, it is intelligently done though and definately puts a different slant on the news of the day.

Summary: A good site to kill a few minutes and have a chuckle.
