Advantages: It's done the work for you.

Disadvantages: Price

Finding the right information, doing research or even checking out websites has become more and more of a lottery lately. It is very frustrating scrolling down a list of websites that have just been churned out by one or more of your favourite search engines, only to find that it is probably going to take the rest of the day for the home page to download. Or it does download fast only for you to find that most of the content that is provided is not what you were looking for. It would be a good idea if someone else could find exactly what you are searching for, and an even better idea knowing that they have experts who have reviewed and rated it for you. The Good Web Guides are already in place, they have the experts, they have the guides, they do have the experience.

They are the hub for the right kind of information that you are seeking, they have done all the hard work for you, they have the guides that are easy to follow and are split up into different subjects. The reviews have a five star rating and the sites are judged on the design, reliability, accessibility, accuracy and quality, so as they find more better sites to add to their guide then more of the reviewed sites with less stars get dropped, thus ending up with only the best. Each one of their guides gives over one hundred researched and rated websites which include food, parents, money and gardening. Included with each guide is a CD-Rom which gives you a free subscription to thegoodwebguide.co.uk site, this also includes free on-line updates for one year. There has been four titles already published in May,at a cost of £12.99, and four more web guides were to be published in September, the titles being on health, genealogy, travel and wine. For more information your contact will be:-Marina Vokos at Midas Public Relations telephone:-020 7590 0808 or you can email marina@midaspr.co.uk.

At the top left side of the home page you will see a channel navigator with eight subjects listed, if you cl
ick on the food channel, you will then be taken to the good web guide food home page for the latest news and views. On the left of this page is displayed a list of the features that you can click on, the list includes such items as Ask our experts, Diary, GWG top ten, food competition and Web site Reviews. At the center of the page an email address is provided for you to use if you want to recommend a site you think they should review. Also there are various items and articles written on and about different topics under the general heading of food.

To the right of the page is where they do a bit of plugging, their food guide, for example, with a discount of 20% at just £10.49,not forgetting that all the guides come with a CD-Rom,and also they have a link to Amazon where you can buy the very popular book 'Appetite', by Nigel Slater at the very special price of £20.At the bottom of the page there is the directory of web site reviews with several differing options to follow. As an example if you click on say the Vegetarian title you will then be taken to another page with another directory of web sites that are directly related to the subject of the vegetarian. For each one that you click on there is up to date information, news, updates and reviews on that site. On the general food page click on web site reviews, what comes next is another directory with over a dozen general food web sites, for example, Foodndrink, Simply Food and Global Gourmet.

If you still have trouble finding what you are looking for then I would suggest that you use the Search Box at the top of the home page. It will list any or all websites that you list that have been reviewed or have articles from the good web guide. There are also some excellent book reviews for you to read. My own personal favourite is the competitions, with a couple of books to win, a case of Champagne and some genealogy software all up for grabs.

Next month you will need to buy a book and
then register that purchase with them to get one years free membership, this includes free online updates for a year and membership of one of their channels and you will have to become a member to be able access all parts of the site.

This is a fairly young site that has a lot to offer, it looks good, it's easy to get about and it is fast.

what a star :-)
only criticism is that breaking the long paragraphs up would make it easier to read!
