TheHungerSite aims to provide food for the 3rd world by directing users to click on banners on their website provided by reputable companies who have sponsored the scheme. Each click earns food paid for by the sponsors and is shared equally between 74 countries on all continents. The site boasts that to date they have achieved more than 198 million staple cups of food for hunger stricken countries. Main message:- The main messages that the site conveys is that one person dies from hunger in the world every 3.6 seconds and that 75% of these are children. The figures are astonishing and truly reflect the need for such a site to continues to serve these countries and reduce world hunger. Even the United States has about 30 million residents who are never sure on where their next meal will come from. If the world's most prosperous country suffers from hunger is some way, it is easily seen thats the plight of Africa and other continents needs to be addressed so that more people can lead more decent lives. Layout and content:- I find that the site is excellently laid out. It has links at the top to other donation sites, I believe mostly run by the same organisation which runs the Hunger Site. Content is good as the site has detailed reasons behind its existence. It also contains large amounts of information concerning hunger facts internationally and information on totals donated by each individual country as a result of site visits. Shop:- There is also a shop where links direct you to online stores such as Amazon.com and when a purchase is made through this link amazon will donate cups of food to help the cause. The site also provides its own merchandise which are very reasonably priced. For example a Sweatshirt sporting the site logo will cost $22.95 (£12) and with this purchase 25 cups of food will be donated to the growing fund. Conclusion:- I was very impressed wi
th the entire site. I found it informative and I even believe it opened my eyes a little more to the needs of not just the 3rd world but also closer to home. My only grievance is that it seems to be run as an American venture but as it helps internationally I won't complain.
